DS Daily: What's going to be great about 09?
Dec 14th 2008 10:15PM (Joystiq Nintendo)DS Daily: Record Club Nintendo
Nov 8th 2008 12:04PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Golden Sun was one of the best, IMO. Not DS, I know, but proof that, even in the GBA stage, there was some great stuff.
Other DS greats include Hotel Dusk, Phoenix Wright, The World Ends With You and Electroplankton in which, of course, you create the soundtrack.
Music games like Elite Beat Agents and Taiko No Tatsujin are naturals for great soundtracks, obviously.
Also, most folks don't listen through headphones or plug the sound through better speakers to hear the full range of sounds included. The little 1 CM 'speakers' in the unit don't do the music justice.
DS games aside . . . half of the music I listen to at work IS game music: Zelda (64/GC/Wii), Resident Evil 4, Second Sight, Killer7, Grim Fandango, Tales of Symphonia, Zack and Wiki, Beyond Good and Evil, Morrowind/Oblivion, Ecco, Prince of Persia. Great stuff to zone out to.

I've seen 'em with more generic "hip" and "cool" insert designs, too.
The search for the perfect case was long and arduous, but this one rocks. The DS ain't that much bigger, and is protected from klutziness and fingerprints.

Oct 9th 2007 7:48PM (Joystiq Nintendo)DS Daily: Why do you (or don't you) play Zelda?
Oct 2nd 2007 10:26AM (Joystiq Nintendo)The magic of those games together — the worlds, the stories, the characters, the emotion, and most definitely the music — locked me into Zelda-ness for life.
I moved backward and forward along the timeline after that, and found I didn't enjoy the lesser-bit titles or handhelds quite as much. Tho' the cuteness of Minish Cap often made me giggle like a schoolgirl.
After the Cel-da shock wore off, I thoroughly enjoyed Wind Waker, and played through that twice, and have been trying to stretch the Twilight Princess experience as long as I can in anticipation of Phantom Hourglass.

Jan 7th 2007 6:54PM (Joystiq)#3 - The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Not the ending sequence, but the end boss(es). Having spent all the extra time to collect all 27 masks meant that I was imbued with ridiculous power in Fierce Diety Link, and Majora wasn't any amount of challenge at all to squelch.
#2 - Beyond Good & Evil. Amazing game. Horrid ending (post-credits), only because it was such a cliffhanger, with NO hope of a sequel in sight. =/
#1 - Rayman: Raving Rabbids. I'll try not to *SPOIL* anything, but as one who who tried to follow the light storyline in between the minigames, the ending was depressing as heck. =/
