12 Days of Joyswag: Xbox 360 S plus 'Games for the Holidays,' A World of Keflings, Raskulls, and ilomilo

Dec 26th 2010 1:16AM (Joystiq)
Jello pudding.

Btw, have you guys (or do you plan to) updated the previous giveaway posts letting us know who won the prizes?

Have the winner even been chosen yet for any of them?

Gran Turismo 5 creator wants monthly updates, plans premium car upgrades

Dec 16th 2010 8:57PM (Joystiq)
@Breakdown Loved that damn track. Almost as much as I loved that one shot of the Corvette in the game's opening that looks like a real car every single time I see it. Hardly any of the other quick shots looked as incredibly realistic as that one shot of the 'vette did.

Gran Turismo 5 creator wants monthly updates, plans premium car upgrades

@wcctfrost If you're a fan of the grinding. I think Forza introduced a career mode concept that GT should've tried to do something with. I'm not a Forza fanboy by the way. In fact, I refrained from playing any Forza games strictly because I felt like GT was THAT game and was going to continue to be when GT5 came out.

It still feels like they're making a game with current-gen graphics with a last-gen mentality. As if video game development is still stuck in the 90s.

The grinding, the levels that you have to reach to purchase a car, the lack of customization, the premium vs standard debacle (I don't care if some of the standard ones look alright. There shouldn't be such a discrepancy in the first place. 400+ premium cars would've been fine).

It's like they ignored every other advancement in the genre in the ~6 years that they were making the game and I don't buy this GT5 was always supposed to be shipped in an incomplete state and then patched over the life of the game.

People eat up BS entirely too much nowadays.

12 Days of Joyswag: A Fallout: New Vegas neon sign (yeah, f'real)

Dec 16th 2010 8:29PM (Joystiq)
Because that sign is beyond badass, obscure enough that non-gamers will just think it looks cool, and if by chance a chick DOES know what that game is...well then I think we all know what's goin' down underneath it...

...lots and lots of stimulating conversation.

12 Days of Joyswag: Mass Effect 2 tin, with games, books, and a print!

Tomb Raider details emerge, features open world and brutal deaths

Dec 7th 2010 8:22PM (Joystiq)
@Jovrick - Gotta add a +1 to this. Not for the generally surly disposition but because people are sort of eating up what's been some pretty monotonous and uninventive gameplay dressed up with nice little buzzwords to describe the new "technology" used to achieve certain effects.

Here's to hoping that this changes that a bit. The idea is really intriguing and the tone and atmosphere set up by that cover shot make me hope that they really do reboot this one and make it as gritty as possible.

After what Ubisoft did to Splinter Cell, I'm wondering if anyone will every make another game that doesn't look to simply sell the most copies.

@Educatedfool25 - At first I thought about Jennifer Carpenter from Dexter. But now she's lookin' a bit more like a mix between Missy Peregrym and a younger Hilary Swank.

Gran Turismo 5's Collector's Edition unboxed

Nov 22nd 2010 9:00PM (Joystiq)
@Nolan North

I'm wondering, if these cars are truly "exclusive" like the DLC cars from the other retailers, are they actually in the game proper, or might those who don't buy the Collector's Edition have to wait until PD release them as a free (or paid) download?

Watch the BioShock Infinite gameplay demo

Sep 25th 2010 10:25AM (Joystiq)
@Nomi - Same here. I think the early screenshots and video showing everything being outside during the day gave me a different vibe. That big guy and the thing with the wings (along with the sudden storm that turned everything dark) completely changed that.

Video Interview: Ken Levine, on BioShock Infinite

Aug 16th 2010 2:19PM (Joystiq)
@Vault Boy I've never played System Shock but after seeing Bioshock, Bioshock Infinite, and what XCOM is looking like, give me the storylines and mood that Ken Levine and co. can create, in a space setting. Throw in some spacefaring (not Mass Effect space opera style), some 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the hint (and maybe a later reveal) of some alien life, and I'd pre-order 12 copies right now.

After playing the "Mothership Zeta" add-on in Fallout (even though it wasn't AMAZING), we need a game with the attention to story, environment, and characters like Bioshock or Fallout, set entirely in a locale that isn't Earth.

I'm waiting for a company with the storytelling ability of IG to create something with some hard sci-fi leanings.
