Free Dance Central with $25 purchase at Old Navy this Black Friday

Nov 27th 2010 2:17AM (Joystiq)
It was a complete failure this year.

I didn't go because I was sick and really tired, so my girlfriend and her friend's stood in line at 9 p.m. They were about 15 people from the front of the line. Well, someone called their friends up and blatantly said out loud "Get up here quick. I'll let you cut in line."

So a group of 15 or 20 people cut in line and apparently no one said anything. Probably due to the fact that all the people looked like the type of people that would probably have a gun on them.

Once the doors opened around 11:50 p.m., they RAN inside ahead of everyone else that was in front of them. They started grabbing mall furniture to put by the door at Old Navy. Midnight came and nothing happened. Turns out they didn't pay the fee to open at midnight and were opening at 5 a.m. instead.

Someone saw a sign that said "line starts here" and of course all the homeboys rushed to the front of the line again that wasn't their spot to begin with.

Someone spotted a sign

Free Dance Central with $25 purchase at Old Navy this Black Friday

My girlfriend and I stood in line from 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. last year for the free Lego Rock Band. It was worth it, plus I got a nice, fluffy, coat I enjoy. Later on, we traded in the game for $22 so essentially I got a $3 coat!

We figure this year since it's not multi-platform, and not many of those Xbox 360 owners own a Kinect, the chances of us getting the game increases. Especially if most Kinect users think Dance Central is ridiculous... like me. But my girlfriend insists we get this game just in case we're ever challenged to a dance-off in a life-or-death situation.

One thing though. What exactly is Friday at Midnight? Does this mean Friday, one minute after 11:59 p.m. (technically making it Saturday), or does this mean we'll be waiting in line the night of Thanksgiving (trying to hold in that Thanksgiving poo)?

PSA: Xbox Live Gold Family Pack now available

Regarding the prorated $5 discount for every month left... .

Is this only for the main account? So if the main account has 1 month left, the discount is only $5?

Basically what I'm trying to ask is that if two of my friends have 2 months left each, and my girlfriend and I have 1 month left, are we going to get a combined discount of $30? Or will they be throwing away their months just for a $5 discount?

If you've only played the demo, you're going to think this game sucks. And I had my friends do just that. And yes, they thought it sucked. I bought the game and mae them play it. Their reaction was "This is stupid, you don't have enough time to make your move!" They didn't get it.

I kid you not, within 3 games, all three of them changed their mind about the game and did not want to stop. They admitted it was addicting and they wanted more. We played for almost 2 hours.

@T: One of the greatest differences is that you can play four players on one console. The object is still to get rid of your cards, but you must place your cards in an order so that they may be all discarded in one go, or to discard as many as you can in one go. Being able to see the other players' cards just makes you have to be quicker. You must plan your moves according to the cards that other players are playing.

You see the opposite player laying down green cards. Their last card they can discard is a Green-5. Well, before their hand is even discarded, you see the next player has a Red-5 lined up and will ultimately be throwing down a Yellow-6 (for example). Therefore you would line up your cards based on that Yellow-6. Now if the previous player accidentally sticks a non-playable card in there before the Yellow-6 comes up, then of course that's like sticking a stick in the spokes of a bicycle and you must quickly come up with a new plan. But you are constantly resorting your cards according to what you see in the other players' hands. Very addicting.

You can also throw down shuffle cards which will shuffle players' cards and skip their turn, making them have to resort their deck. Sure enough to piss off anyone who has 13 cards all organized to discard in one go.

It's just fun.... Yes.
