It seems there isn't health regen; your teammates are 100% responsible for it, but they can heal you an infinite number of times.
They played the reveal trailer at the end (which I never saw) and I was really impressed by it (don't even like Skrillex music that much, but that song fit the trailer perfectly). Just like Riddick before it, the graphics are phenomenal and the animations are fairly fluid (though certainly far from perfect).
This demo put the game on my radar. If Newegg or Amazon has a pre-order deal, I think I might have to take the plunge.
The helicopter spawn camping opposing air vehicles wouldn't be an issue if more people would actually use anti-air missiles, SOFLAM, or the CITV rather than refusing to switch off the RPG/SMAW.
On maps like Kharg Island, Caspian Border, and Operation Firestorm there are just as many opposing air vehicles as tanks. Players are way too hesitant in switching to an anti-air weapon. If you can barely get out of the spawn to use the RPG on a tank or jeep, why not switch to the IGLA and take care of the camping problem?
I think the death of the JRPG genre came when gamers clamored for voice acting, ended up getting it (albeit done by terrible voice actors), and proceeded to abandon the genre in droves. Tidus will always be my least favorite FFX character ever thanks to the terrible voice acting.
That being said, I used to think the pinnacle of good story telling and acting for gaming in general lied with the Metal Gear series. Having gone back and beaten MGS1 and 2, I'm beginning to realize I haven't played a game with a truly great story. Games and their characters either conform to Hollywood cliches or are filled with such a terrible script you just phase it out of your conscious mind and focus on the game.
I honestly forgot how stupid some of the things were in MGS2. Raiden, for example, was 20 times worse than I remember. I understand he's suppose to be 'new blood', but he has the wimpiest voice and the dialogue with Rose is 100% cringe worthy. He comes off like a really, really whiny b*^@$.
And Liquid, hiding in Ocelot's arm? Stupid plot line.
How many times will characters say a) Snake b) Liquid or C) brother?
Better yet, could they possible do the "So what your saying is..." "That's exactly right (insert character here)". It's like Keanu Reeves inseminated the script.
If it weren't for David Hayter's voice acting, I'm not sure anyone would care about the series that much.
(In the process of playing MGS3 and I already can't believe the voice acting of Boss; she is terrible).
I like how they are trying to bring MMO elements to an offline RPG, but I can't imagine myself getting that invested in my character when I can't go online and play/trade with other players. It doesn't need to be an MMO, but having a co-op option would be nice.
That being said, nothing was bad per se, but nothing wowed me either. Graphics look like an improved World of Warcraft, which is fine, but its not cutting edge. I also didn't care for the animations either (in particular the running and the way enemies reacted). There seems to be a lot of depth though as it pertains to crafting and destinies, but I don't think there's enough in the gameplay department for me to get excited about this. I am, however, looking forward to a next-gen sequel (...if it includes some sort of co-op or online market).

Why silly JRPG dialogue may not be a problem
