Steve Ballmer is the biggest loser in business if you ask me. What has he done right in the past 10 years? Microsoft has been stagnant or declining since he took over. It blows me mind that they haven't gotten rid of him yet.

Great, now it will be decades before they release another 3D Mario (after Galaxy 2) and Nintendo will start pumping out 2D versions like crazy.

One reason why they may be remaking these particular games is because the original games' battery backups are all dying out a lot faster than normal games of that time because of the real-time clock function of the game that drains the battery life faster.
