I got the e74 error about a month ago, called Microsoft, they said that I had to pay the $99 fee to have it repaired. Screw that. So, I opened a RRoD support case on the Xbox site, sent my console in, and hoped that they would fix the e74 issue. Guess what?? IT WORKED! MS sent my Xbox back to me in perfect working order.
