Halo 3 breaks records, $170 million in 24hrs

Sep 27th 2007 12:09PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Nobody paid $25 for the last Harry Potter book. Books are almost never sold at the MSRP, in fact most retailers have their own specific tags that they through over the manufacturer's UPC because they don't even bother with them. Amazon had it for $17, as previously mentioned, and Wal-Mart and practically every other retailer had it for $17.99 or less. If you do the math WITH A CORRECT RETAIL PRICE, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows grossed just under $150 million.

This would be like Bungie and Microsoft Game Studios claiming that the MSRP for Halo 3 was $99, $120 and $200 for the regular, CE and Legendary editions, and thus totally inflating their sales numbers.

Win a super rare signed 300-Edition Xbox 360 Elite and 300 HD DVD!

300 had a lot of awesome scenes, but my favorite one was at the end. Dilios was inspiring the 10,000 strong Spartan army, along with 30,000 other Greeks, of the story of his King Leonidas and the now legendary 300. You can practically feel not only the energy of the Spartans as they shout their battle cry, but you can even feel the impending doom that is about to be brought upon the Persians.

Dell pushing hard for customer satisfaction

Jun 25th 2007 1:11AM (BloggingStocks)
@#1: That is the stupidest comment I have ever read, ever. Thank you sir for being a complete idiot.

Dell has lost its market share in the desktop sector to HP... who has been doing business with Wal-Mart all along and is always featured on their black friday promotions.

Also, Dell computers have always been pretty cheap on the inside - no name parts, weak power supplies, etc. It's more like a match made in heaven.

The state of Xbox 360 homebrew

When people say PSP "homebrew", they really mean PSP "piracy".

Band of Bugs brings casual strategy to XBLA

You must be a hater. This game actually looks pretty cool. If you're so desperate to play Symphony of the Night, go fire up your PSone.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a top-tier game. I had a blast with NinjaBee's last XBLA offering.

MS asks Asian gamers "WhatsWrongWithU?"

Feb 5th 2007 1:24PM (Joystiq Xbox)
It's pretty unlikely this is a Microsoft site. Doesn't even mention Microsoft as far as I can see, no copyright © 20007 Microsoft or logos or anything and it wasn't even registered by Microsoft. The domain whois information shows this:

Domain Name: WHATSWRONGWITHU.COM

Administrative Contact , Technical Contact :
e-Crusade Marketing Co. Ltd.
alvin.law@e-crusade.com
Room 1902-04, 19/F Chinachem Exchange
Square I, 1 Hoi Wan Street, Quarry Bay
Hong Kong, HK
Phone: +852 31024522

Now it's not unheard of for a company to use an outside marketing firm (hello Sony PSP blog!) but all signs point to this not being from Microsoft. Unresponsible blogging at its finest. :)

Nintendo trickles out Q1 games list

Kameo was a pretty decent game, especially for a launch title. And the fact that its concept had been around for awhile is irrelevant.

Rumor: XBLA size limit upped to 250MB

Jan 19th 2007 1:13PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I think the cap was pretty stupid because it basically limited core users to ONE XBLA game. Granted, they could keep deleting and redownloading, but if they could only have one they were pretty much screwed anyways.

Not that I mind the smaller downloads. 500 megs for a indie game is pretty hefty. I would only see it being useful in a game like Castlevania: SotN or any other major older release.

Peter Moore tells reporter not to play Gears of War

Jan 15th 2007 11:16PM (Joystiq)
@21

The kid didn't ask Peter Moore what he thought the his parents should tell him, he asked him what he thought.

Yes, parents can let their kids do just about anything they damn well please. That doesn't mean it should be done, or that a high profile marketing exec should say "go ask daddy" about playing a very violent game. The bucked stopped with Moore and he didn't dodge the question.

Obviously the kid can still go home and frag in GoW if mommy and daddy say it's OK, but that shouldn't mean Moore can't state his opinion on it.

24 Season 6: Free picture pack and theme

Jan 12th 2007 9:33PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I was expecting to get an awesome Jack Bauer gamerpic, instead I got the ugly CTU logo and the 24 lcd text.

I was expecting to get a cool theme with some pics from 24 action scenes, instead I got one with pics of Keifer Sutherland hanging out. I guess he did have a gun in one of them.

Avoid at all costs, even if you're a 24 fan.
