You got me, m3mnoch. Although I don't play the classic tabletop game, only PC and video games based on D&D. The warforged are present in Dragonshard and DDO - both set in Eberron.
Thanks for the comment, Azerael. If you re-read the post, you'll notice I never claimed the genre was new. I would also hesitate to use the term "first-person RPG" to describe Dark Messiah - that term is better suited for games like Elder Scrolls and Arkane's Arx Fatalis. Those titles are heavy on the RPG and exploration elements.
Dark Messiah, on the other hand, focuses mainly on combat and heavy action - like an FPS. It's also expected to be shorter than a typical RPG, but since it includes role-playing elements, "RPG-shooter" is a fair description.
After Atari goes belly up, BioWare-Pandemic and Obsidian should assume full control of the franchise. Don't count BioWare out just yet, they don't give up on their customers so easily.
It definitely makes sense for Atari to want to shift its focus to NWN2, but consider this: they just released the NWN Diamond Collection seven months ago in an effort to milk the original a little longer. They released the Kingmaker retail collection in stores at the beginning of the year, and they just authorized the release of the Infinite Dungeon module this past week. What purpose does it serve for Atari to now abandon all the new NWN customers they've attracted in this time? They actually think this will take biz away from NWN2? If anything, it will bring more gamers on board if it's a well-supported franchise.
Atari should follow Blizzard's formula for success: take care of your customers and they'll keep coming back to buy your product.
They could always release the Witches Wake sequel for NWN2, using the new engine. I wonder if Atari will let that happen.
That post on DLA's web site mentions that BioWare gets the money first from the premium modules sold directly through their store site, but Atari also released a shrinkwrapped package with the first three premium modules.
Why would Atari care if BioWare continues to release patches for the original NWN, as long as BioWare is willing to do the lion's share of the work? The more stable the original game, the more people will go back and buy it, which means Atari makes money as the publisher.
Haven't read NP in a long time, but OXM probably has the worst writing talent I've ever seen in a print publication. I read somewhere that this is Future Publishing's best selling mag, which I find hard to believe. They also publish PC Gamer, which is still one of the best gaming mags around. Game Informer is also getting better.
Actually, Enigma, it was Ubisoft who called the action "hostile" at the time. I guess they will try to update the engine, but who knows if they will do as good of a job as Crytek.
For the newbs who don't know what a mod is, it's short for "modification", meaning it modifies the game beyond what the developers originally intended. This can be done for game enhancements, expansions, cheats, etc.
There are no game/plot spoilers here, and if you're not interested in enhancing the original game, don't download the mods.
Morrowind had some awesome mods and it sounds like Oblivion will as well.
Aquaman would be a fish out of water if most of the maps are land-based. Cartoon Network made light of his abilities a few years ago in that Super Friends/Powerpuff Girls commercial when the girls rescue him and Wonder Woman from the Legion of Doom. I believe he says, "It's no use Wonder Woman, my ability to talk to fishes isn't helping", and Diana just rolls her eyes.
They're probably using the John Stewart Green Lantern because he's more current, same as Wally West instead of Barry Allen as Flash. Stewart also adds some much needed ethnic diversity to the League.
Snowblind's game engines rock, so this should be even better than X-Men Legends.

I offer you this quote from 1UP: "melee combat is more prevalent in Dark Messiah than in any other shooter to date." (http://cgw.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3152745)
