One more point: we can't sell imported games. I tried to sell my imported version of FarCry 2 at a Gamestop. The shopowner bought it - but he left his shop first and bought it "as a private person" outdoors ... I never felt more criminal.
We can of course import games, but there are several problems. First some companies like amazon.uk.co limited their export offer (probably because of the weak pound). And if you purchased an uncut version from the UK you won't be able to play online with your friends who purchased the german cut version (btw we also got a cut version of Skate 2 ...). The main problem imho is that gaming in Germany is still not accepted as a cultural phenomenom of grown-ups but seen as something (stupid, fat) kids do. People here seem to be ashamed to admit games can be fun for adults. There's a lot of tendencies like this to be seen in Germany, e.g. did you know that the windows icon "My computer" is named "Workplace" in the german version? That says a lot about how we aproach technology.
