Firefox 4 officially launched, 1,000,000 downloads and climbing fast

Mar 22nd 2011 7:31PM (Download Squad)
@Rich

Still using 3.6.15. I'm on a Dell Dimension 2300 with 512MB of RAM but FF4 does feel slower on here compared to 3.5 or 3.6. Not sure why though. Kind of wish Mozilla would release a barebones version of FF4 sans Sync and Panorama (no need for either).

'Fiv5' could be the title of Quantic Dreams' next game

@AceManUSC

Most likely still PS3 only. GAF dug up a trademark by SCEE for the name:

Firefox 4 now available to download, official release tomorrow

Might be because of the relic I'm on (Dell Dimension 2300), but it seems kind of slower on my end compared to 3.5 and/or 3.6. Maybe some tweaks I can make?

Ask DLS: What's your primary Web browser?

Feb 16th 2011 1:30PM (Download Squad)
Firefox. I'd branch out to others if they had something in the same vain as certain other add ons I use in Firefox. Brief, Update Scanner and Ad-Block Plus would be nice in other browsers but until then, I'm sticking with FF as a main (also am used to the interface so there's that) and Opera as a side browser.

Opera 11 final brings add-on support, tab stacks, and big-time performance gains

@King Antonius

I have no interest in using Google Reader oddly enough. Since Extensions are just kicking off with Opera, I should probably just wait to see what shows up.

Add-on wise, is there anything decent to use for RSS feeds in Opera? I really do loathe the e-mail go-through that they're currently using (the whole setup just bothers me) and would like something different. Right now, my 'standard' is Brief for Firefox and that's one of the big reasons I haven't made a jump to another browser as my main. I like Opera's speed on this old computer but RSS are one of the things holding me back.

BioShock Infinite won't be a port on PS3, all versions developed in-house

Nov 22nd 2010 4:42AM (Joystiq)
@Noksukow

Recently read a posting from a developer working on a PS3 (PSN)/PC/Linux title called OilRush and they said that when they were optimizing the game on PS3, the PC version (and I'm assuming Linux as well) gained some improvements from the PS3's optimization:

"Ongoing PlayStation 3 performance optimizations... PC version will also gain more speed out of them."

So there seems to be something going on that allows not only the developer to have a par product across all platforms when the PS3 is the lead, but the PS3 optimizations seem to help out optimizing the other platforms as well. Guess we'll need a developer to actually go in depth about this though.

Google Chrome sandboxes Flash for more secure browsing

Nov 15th 2010 11:27AM (Download Squad)
I'd like to use Chrome but it just runs sluggish for me on the computers I've used it on (an Inspiron 600m and a Dimension 2300, both with 512MB of RAM). It'll act like it's loading a page and take forever to do so. The Dev/Canary builds work best but the Beta and Stable aren't worth using for some reason (the former 2 still pull the whole page loading thing from time to time).

Flash Player update arrives to squash more critical security issues

Yeah, I'm on a Dell Dimension 2300 and have the Flash Plug-In turned off cause it's a hog a majority of the time. Wish they'd start from scratch but they seem to not see a need to bother.

Sega teases 'top secret' Valkyria Chronicles project

Sep 1st 2010 2:27PM (Joystiq)
@Haelie Honestly don't think that's a concern of theirs. The reason they said they moved it to the PSP was to cut back on development time for a sequel and to capitalize on the anime at the time. The Producer/Director also said they're looking to keep the franchise PS3/PSP, currently wanting to get back to the PS3. If anything, they've been working on VC3 parallel with VC2 to cut back on the gap between the releases.
