Keep Tech support as a warranty only thing, but not an actual guidance for help. As a former tech support agent, we we're limited to 2 minutes per problem as an average. If it wasn't something that couldn't be solved within 2-minutes we had to give the whole "it's not us, it's you" routine.
You can only get better by learning by failure, right?
