It was the script writer who took it to new levels of face palm; the other two were fine within this already dumb idea. He is certainly not someone I would want as my lead writer... At the very least wit is certainly not his strength, is it? "Hey baby, I'm glad you asked me that question".
The demo was really poor; while the gameplay and game-feel was nice, the level design was abysmal, stupidly short and had terribly writing, and acting.
The Wii is a great thing for gaming. Most of the people buying a Wii wouldn't have bought ANY console otherwise. It's bringing lots and lots of new people into the medium.
And let's face it no one who was going to get a 360 or PS3 is going to get a wii instead (frequently as well). The only thing it's hurting are its competitor's image...
*supposed From that image, the 'western' character, looks to have horrible character design. The Japanese blue haired teenager isn't so in your face awful, just really stereotypical and bland...
You can still get the Black Box like normal on Steam, I was getting it there anyway. I had no trouble getting Episode 1, Day of Defeat or Jade Empire...
It's really a smart move, I know loads of people who were mixed up and confused by the two boxes.
Noooooo.... They're gonna f&$% forever it up without Spector to finish his story arc. I never thought that I'd annoyed/sad at the announcement of a new Deus Ex, heh. I really wish they just left the original alone, is there a sequel to Citizen Kane?
Ps: Invisible War wasn't a crap game by any stretch just in comparision to it's brother (Imo, it's an 8.9). It's main failings were not the over simplification and unavoidably weaker story (forgetting the original game, these still blew most other games away) but much more importantly the rush job to finish it. The last level alone leaves the worst possible taste in your mouth, it's horrendous...
"39. Dyack's complaint about LOTR wasn't that they were too long. His complaint was that they were not self-contained, and he's right. The first 2 movies had no endings. It's basically one huge 10 hour movie chopped into thirds. But that's the way the books were written, as one gigantic epic, so his complaint is kinda awkward. Making games that aren't self-contained is a bad idea, so he's on the right track, he just picked a really bad example with LOTR.
Either way, let's crush him like we crushed Jaffe, eh?" QFT.
Ps: Joystiq has really gone downhill lately. Shame really, I always preferred it's layout to Kotaku's. Oh well.
