Opinion: Why I can't go beyond the first 5 mins of Call of Duty: World At War

Okay Hannibal. Please go see your therapist.

In Gears you can chainsaw people to death, stomp their brains in, use them as meat shields, and so on and so forth. You can call that fiction, but it is just as likely to happen in real wars as well, or even more brutal situations. The only difference is that you tell yourself that *this* war is fictional. But the actions still apply to real life.

And lets face it, when in online mode, you are acting out what could be done to real people. Not only that, but all your bragging online about your L337 skills pretty much parallel the attitudes of real hardened soldiers used to dealing death. And the Japanese were no strangers to those ideals.

Yeah, that Rambo movie was an eye-opener. An yet, while watching it, you have a clear sense of just how crazy and dangerous war is.

I think the author is deliberately bringing in non-sequitor issues here. This isn't about Japanese-American internment camps, not about Hiroshima or Nagasaki, it's about the battles in the South Pacific, soldier to soldier. The Japanese were particularly ruthless in their handling of warfare and POWs. They had a superiority complex and treated everyone as subjects to their wills. You can chose to ignore it, but it is historical fact. Look up the Rape of Nanking, Unit 100, Unit 731, the March of Bataan, or any other Japanese war crime.

Oh! Pick me! Pick me! I have nothing to do this weekend! Save me from boredom!

Bad Company achievements one-up kill count, again

10,002 is nothing. According to my CoD4 stats, I've played the game online for over 9 days, and I have 30,000 kills. That's over 3,000 per day, and I typically play less than 14 hours a week, on average.

Also, consider this; what else are you going to be playing over the summer? A whole lot of nothing? Sounds about right... summer drought is tough.

Joystiq hands-on: Metal Gear Solid 4 - the finished game

I think you mean; THE BEST MOVIES EVAR! One man armies are the way to get things done.

As for this game, being a 360 owner, I could be interested in it if there was a port. However, as I don't have enough time for one console, let alone two or three, this game will come and go like many others I've not had time to play. Or in other words, no loss to me.

Joyswag: Win Grand Theft Auto IV on your platform of choice [Day 4]

The Xbox 360. Best controller ever.

As for my wife, she really, really doesn't like violence at all. Which is why I am trying to win a copy of GTA4 as she made me promise not to buy it, unless I prefer a celibate lifestyle. But if I *win* it...
