Jan 7th 2007 7:45PM (Joystiq)The PS3 is expensive, more expensive than any other system in the traditional post-christmas lull. I think ultimately availability will help the PS3 continue to grow its market...when people get use to seeing them around and some good games like motorstorm and lair hit, there will be 2 more reason to pick one up...while the Wii at that point will only have 1 real game (Zelda).
I wouldn't worry about anything this early in the race, if anything the Wii is going to get old while the other systems outpace it with more indepth gameplay.

Analyst: PS3 will win with 75 million units by 2010
Jan 2nd 2007 12:58PM (Joystiq)I think the worst thing about the PS3 is the NVidia video chip. NVidias tech has been lagging behind ATI since the 9700s, reducing the bit depth of color for renderers is really going to hurt the overall appeal of the visuals as well as NVIdias inability to perform AA without a major hit to framerate.
Man sony has always been behind on the AA front and this generation thats going to still prove to be a challenge...
I still think they will win out though.

Joystiq's Game of the Year
Jan 1st 2007 1:13PM (Joystiq)Nintendo talks about how there no creativity in games and whats their killer app? A retread of the same game they have been putting out since the N64 days.
My biggest problem with Zelda TP is that fact that it is devoid of any meaningful gameplay elements. Its like watching a movie and shaking your fists at the screen. Zelda TP is a puzzle game dressed up like an RPG, with a bunch of horrible mini games.
It going to be hard to justify what I say about Zelda to fanboys especially in this format, I need to write a full and proper review, but anyways yeah Zelda shouldn't be on that list.
$150 PlayStation 3 discount [update 1]
Jan 1st 2007 1:04PM (Joystiq)granted you've got hardcore gamers around this time, but assuming hardcore gamers, besides the Nintendo fanboys avoid the Wii, it leaves casual gamers to support it. Thats almost exactly where the 2600 stood.
Its not an exact comparison but if you can see how hardore gamers might get tired of the offerings on the Wii (no meat) then certainly we can see how casual gamers might hold its fate in their hands.
Like I said previously, theres almost no hope for 3rd party titles on the Wii if that system ends up catering to casual gamers, and this could be disassterous for Nintendo and possibly a wider portion of the industry if it puts people off games all together.
