TF2 in 2012: 'Meet the Pyro' is coming, more secrets

Feb 3rd 2012 11:26PM (Joystiq)
Would love to see a new TF on the Xbox with map DLC

NMA TV's breakdown of Nintendo's financial situation is as zany as you'd expect

It really sucks when someone carrying around a console above their head decides to beat you down with it, because you're throwing shells at them.

Ultima: Most. Important. Game Series. Ever.

I really wish this would have been re-introduced on XBLA and PSN. It's been years since I've played these games. Would also love to see Wing Commander re-released. Anyone from EA out there? :)

Kinect sensors being tested for use in laptops [Update: Microsoft responds]

Jan 27th 2012 12:05PM (Joystiq)
Seemed only inevitable, this type of technology would end up in laptops. I suspect we'll see it in stand alone displays as well. The voice control aspect would be interesting to have on a laptop or computer

Plan your life around this Modern Warfare 3 Elite DLC calendar

Jan 25th 2012 3:42PM (Joystiq)
I'm a little confused over Elite. If you have Elite, which you subscribe to separately, you have access to DLC first. Ok, so if I'm not part of Elite, when does the content arrive? and at how much? If you're in Elite, do you still have to buy the content, or is it all free?

Twisted Metal's PSN Pass, demo, and day-one patch: Jaffe explains

@JasonA I think what it is--- hardly any games coming out right now. Seems like a rather slow period.

Zynga CEO defends stock price, says culture 'not ultra competitive'

Jan 17th 2012 2:15PM (Joystiq)
It's slowly been going up and is currently around 9.30, having dipped under 8 dollars. There's no doubt in my mind, it'll go above 10... eventually.

In my opinion, it should have started at 8 instead of 10. They started on the high end of the scale and were wrong. Thing is, I think the press would have been kinder had that not started as high and would have been saying Zynga was an incredible IPO instead of Zynga was a cautionary IPO. It just cast doubt on further IPOs, although I suspect Facebook will be unscathed, assuming they don't crazy in their initial pricing. I think Zynga was more focused on how much they could collect

PlayStation 3 sells 3.9 million units during the holidays (and other sales data)

Jan 11th 2012 1:30AM (Joystiq)
@Haizeus There's new gamers in the market all the time. A generation grows up annually. So maybe someone who was 5 or 6 a year or so ago, is maybe getting a console. It's not like the market is frozen and there's always the same number of gamers-- although there is also those that outgrow a console and leave it behind. There's also the casual or older gamer that might not necessarily like certain types of games, but is maybe attracted to say the Kinect aspect of the console. As consoles transition to becoming media hubs, they'll attract a whole other audience.

Choplifter HD touches down on PC, PSN, XBLA next week

I was beginning to wonder what happened to this title... looking forward to checking it out.

Old Microsoft patent details gaming console with DVR functionality

Dec 30th 2011 7:29PM (Joystiq)
I can totally envision the Xbox being a media hub. It started out with games, but will support all kinds of content. A DVR would be a logical option for a media hub-- and they're already doing it with AT&T's U-Verse. But long term, I'd much rather see content stored in the cloud rather than locally, but until everyone has highspeed bandwidth, a local drive option would work better.
