@aristokrat - Dude I know EXACTLY how you feel. I remember planting a charge on a bomb, getting in a nice comfy place, and aiming a rocket right at the bomb waiting for some poor schmuck to try to denote it.

@Anticrawl: So, this comment was flagged as a reply to me but it's not in any comment tree that I posted in. Were you replying to one of my posts or is the site screwing up?

I actually really enjoy BC2 but things have been going downhill. I'm getting tired of the lag and rubber-banding when trying to dart from building to building.

I've also been a bit disappointed that these "Map Packs" but having bought retail ... they haven't really cost me anything. Now, Onslaught mode is coming out which will just offer a new mode but no new maps.

They have three upcoming VIP packs slated for "future release," so I'm hoping all of them will be new maps and that they'll eventually fix the lag.

* I also wanted to state that I originally rented this game, and when I bought it and unlocked my VIP code, I did notice two new maps that I never played when renting.

@LockeDaemonfire - The argument I've seen is that this should have been included from the get-go. EA is also under fire for their VIP Map packs actually being a progressive unlocking of already released game modes available on maps that they weren't originally available for - instead of legitimate new maps.

@Nadril: New maps would be nice, but I'm not going to bitch about a free update that is going to increase the variety a bit. Like I said, if they charged for it, that'd be another thing, but it's free ... so I'm good.

@Solace: True, and even I was disappointed when I found out that I think I had unlocked maybe one map (it's the one that takes place at night, never played it as a rental and could be a rehashed map) but now some developers are now just outright blocking online multiplayer unless you pay a fee or pay retail. At least in this case, it's addon content so you don't have to get it. Some of these newer games, it's pay retail, pay $5 or enjoy single-player.

I don't understand why people complain about this. Okay, so they're new game modes for old maps - who cares? The fact that it's free eliminates any real reason to complain. I would argue that most of you complaining will still download it when it comes out. That's like someone saying they hate the newly announced iPhone 4, but then still goes out and buys it.

They could charge for it. If they charge $5 and force me to buy it, then I'll complain. But I'm not going to complain when new stuff is added and it won't cost me a penny.

So this is how bad it's gotten ... we're complaining about free content now.

Exclusive DLC is actually becoming pretty normal. Some games are pushing this feature to get more retails sales.

I would guess it would pan out like this - PSN users have to pay for DLC that they want, PSN+ users get it for a discount or for free. Either way, the scenario isn't changing for the PSN user.

Now, if they lockout DLC so that only PSN+ users can download them, then that's an issue.

@8-bit.artist: Very good point. I remember when I finally bought the game that the "map packs" were immediately installed when I entered in my code. But I also notice two new maps that I never played before. Still, it was on the disc the entire time. *sigh*

They do have roughly 3 upcoming DLC that VIPs can download for free - so it's not all cheap. We just don't know what they are yet ...
