Took the words right out of my mouth. HAHA!

14 gaming myths exposed... sorta

Feb 14th 2007 2:08PM (Joystiq)
I'm not a big fan of WASD but I can enjoy shooters on either platform. The real issue out of this article is what they say about extended warranties. Hardware failures are slim? Maybe on their planet. Let us not forget that only recently did Microsoft increase their warranty on the 360 from 3 months to 1 year. And this may not be a hardware issue per se, but I have seen multiple PS3 demo machines just sitting there after locking up.

Maybe the majority of people with PS3's and 360's experience no trouble at all. I can't speak for them. All I know is that I get disc read errors on my 360 at least twice a week, so you better believe I'm going to return it at some point. And with my extended warranty, I should just be able to walk in and exchange it as opposed to shipping it off to MS and waiting oh so patiently for it to return.

Unless you're buying a toaster or something that you KNOW has a good reputation and warranty, I highly recommend service plans. They're usually not as limited as manufacturer warranties and you may or may not need them. That's the point. They're insurance. Insurance policies generally seem like a waste of money until something bad happens. It's really all about risk and how much you're willing to gamble.

MotorStorm stalled

The demo that's available on PS3 kiosks is awful. I'm sure it's an early build, but it should never have been allowed on the machines as a demo. The framerate on it is terrible, there were some major geometry issues, and your vehicle reverts to a wire frame model after a crash. It's liking watching a train wreck. I would love to know what idiot thought it would be a good idea to include it as a playable demo.

Only composite cables in the PS3 box -- whatever

Oct 13th 2006 5:31PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Good lord...I hope this is a joke. If I was opening a PS3 and found only composite cables inside, I would be PISSED! Sony is selling a $600 system here. They can afford to throw in decent cables. And who's TV doesn't have component inputs? Any decent TV made in the past 6 years should have them. If your TV doesn't, then the last thing you need to be buying is a PS3.

Blizzard Suspends Thousands of Accounts

If not crucifixion, then at least public stockades. That way you don't offend anyone and it becomes more about public humiliation. With a crucifixion, you may find people being sympathetic to the ones who've been crucified. Plus it's hard to laugh at someone on a cross. But with stockades, it would be brutal. Lots of people laughing and pointing and making rude gestures. One could easily code them into locations just outside of Stormwind and Ironforge. There could even be a vendor nearby selling tomatoes, rotten lettuce, eggs, etc. It would be almost like a mini-game.

WoW on the Mac Safe From Windows

That makes me feel better about Macs. The issue with 1 button has bugged me for a long time. I love my Logitech MX518 and can't imagine WoW without it. I can adjust sensitivity on the fly if need be and have buttons for AutoRun and Jump.

New Armor Sets Revealed

Apr 5th 2006 11:34AM (WoW)
I don't even know how to get these things. Are they drops in Blackrock or something? I don't imagine I'll be seeing them in game either but it did get me thinking about which character I should roll next. Paladins really have some incredible sets!

The site had me going until I saw the "What Would Jesus Do Thong". I can't imagine any church endorsing that. :)

Video Games Live Concert Review

Mar 30th 2006 4:47PM (WoW)
I'm really looking forward to the show if it comes anywhere close by. I signed up for the newsletter a long time ago and have tried to stay somewhat active with it. The marketing coordinator is on MySpace and seems like a very down to Earth kind of gal. I really want them to do well, so if this comes through your neighborhood, you owe it to yourself to see it. There's music in there from Tron and all kinds of classic games. Who wouldn't want to hear music from some of their favorite games being played by a live symphony. If anyone wants to know more about the show, please check out their site:

Music from WoW sounds like a new addition. I hope they perform the music featured in Stormwind. Everytime I'm in town, I can't help but feel heroic listening to that music.
