@scorpeo The weak talking points have to stop, there is nothing wrong with the EVO's screen. The fact neither HTC or Sprint have issued a statement says a lot. Engadget is a blog, they produce one picture and a few people run with it. I will side with a reputable company over a blog any day. Not to mention engadget have been wrong in several articles regarding the EVO.
Your are wrong bro. I have the EVO since launch and I have Light Leakage under the Home,Menu,Back and Search buttons. I actually contacted HTC about the issue and they sent me an Incident Ticket and asked that I send pics, well I sent 3 pics and they apologized for the issue and said they are working on it. I am also having WiFi issues where I can connect to WiFi at home and only if I am on top of my router. If I go 8ft in any direction my reception is horrible. Other than these issues I still love this phone. It's one of the best electronic devices I have ever owned. Nothing beats watching ESPN at my work desk. Love Widgets and Full Web-Sites and not just the Mobile Version. When Droid 2.2 (Froyo) hits, this phone will be a BEAST.
I have the EVO and have not had any issues with responsiveness but have issues with WiFi and Light Leakage. Am I going to take the phone back and get an iPhone, Hell No. I have a BB Bold 9700 (from my job) and every single call I get at home drops within 2 minutes of saying "Hello". It's quit frustrating, AT&T SUCKS at my house. Even with the 2 issues I have with the EVO, it's still one hell of a phone and I do enjoy it. I also have a 32gb iPod Touch, 32gb Zune HD, PS3, 360, Wii and I could care less about Fanboyism. My wife has a Pre and she likes her phone (plus we get a 25% discount thru her employer with Sprint). I like the EVO because I can make it look anyway I want unlike the iPhone/iPod which looks cluttered to me. I already made 3 scenes which suit my different tastes. I also use it to watch ESPN while at my desk:)
Any person who pledges their undying allegiance to ANY particular manufacturer (Apple, HTC, MSFT, Sony, Nintendo etc. etc.) has serious mental issues and needs to be medicated ASAP. THESE COMPANIES DO NOT LOVE YOU, most wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. You are nothing more than a wallet to them. Fanboys are LOSERS plain and simple. Get a friggin life.
Obviously this is your opinion and not fact. I have an EVO and truly enjoy the phone. To me Apple products are for those who have very little tech skills and just want a device to work (which Apple products do very well). Case in point, I have a 32gb iPod Touch that my 4 year old can turn on and start playing games. Whereas I think Droid devices are for those who have tech skills and like to tinker with their electronic devices (I know this is a small minority of the populace). We like to do whatever we want with the devices we purchase. Droid is an open system while Apple is a closed system. Both great phones for what they offer their prospective buyers. As I said I have an EVO/PC and I'm a Tech Nerd and an IT Manager, my brother is a teacher and has an iPhone 3GS/Mac (no tech skills at all but those devices fit him perfectly).
I put my name down about two weeks ago. I was told that they were only getting 36 phones on Friday and then would have to order more and they would come in on Monday. Only 13 people are on that list (so 13 people are guaranteed to get the EVO on Friday), the rest is 1st come, 1st serve.
I actually got an opportunity to play with and EVO today when I went to my local Sprint store (they are opening at 8:00 am on Friday). I am 3rd on list:) What an incredible phone (no pun intended). Very fast and very responsive. Went to the Interwebz and got onto Engadget rather quickly. Checked out Youtube as well. Played a Music Video (Hella Good by No Doubt) and was amazed at how well the speaker sounded. Screen was beautiful and very vibrant. The rep got to take it home for two days and said the battery lasted longer than it does in his Hero. 4G will be in Southern California by the end of July.
The rep told me of 2 really cool free apps, Bamboozer and UStream. Bamboozer will alow you to send video via text to another cell phone with maybe a 5-10 second delay. Awesome. I can video my kids playing softball and text the game live to my family. UStream does the samething but with an e-mail address. This is what the rep told me. I have not used Droid before (wife has a Pre and I have a BB Bold 9700 for work). Friday can't come soon enough. It also comes with an 8gb Micro SD installed.
Well I went over to the Sprint Store by my job at lunchtime and put my name down on the list (I was 3rd) so I will be able to get this phone day 1:) The Sprint Rep said 4g should be in So. Cal by the end of June and that it's already in Lancaster (about 50 miles North of where I live). He said it's already in Las Vegas (I happen to be going to Vegas that weekend so I will be able to test out 4g)
I agree with you 100%. I can't believe people are bitching over $10. Give me a break. This phone is worth the extra $10 (especially if it helps get 4g out alot quicker). We don't have 4g yet in the Los Angeles area, but it's coming soon and I don't mind paying the $10 now. I am also getting the tethering as well and my wife gets a 25% discount from her job and we will pay $82 plus tax. that's a damn good deal to me. I will be 1st in line that day.
