Not trying to defend DICE or anything, but I've been playing since launch and all stutter/graphics issues I've encountered have been on my end. All I can tell you to do is double check drivers by either re-installing or rolling back, double check your overclocks, etc.
Now, since the server browser is through your browser, timing out/getting kicked often looks the same as a CTD. Keep that in mind when diagnosing a problem.
I think that's kind of the point. These ads are for people that are too stupid to figure out the ratings system or can't be bothered to parent. I honestly think this is a waste of time though, because the target audience is never going to pay attention to this.
Couldn't agree with you more, however there have been a few JRPGs since that have tried to shake things up. Did you ever play the first two Shadow Hearts? Played together they form a really good story that does a good job of staying away from cliches.
I agree. Let's combine Nietzsche, Freud, Christian mythology, Shakespeare and Norse Gods. That'll make us look smart, because we're talking about things that smart people talk about.
It was also terribly small by comparison. I remember how excited I was for Xenosaga when it launched...I was under the impression they were going to touch on Xenogears' origins...you know, during the war, how Lacan became Graaf, Bart's ancestor, Sophia, etc. But no, it was some boring sci-fi drama with zero personality and nothing to explore. I remember how surprised I was when the game ended, simply because I thought I was maybe, MAYBE about half way through it. I had only been to maybe, what, five dungeons and two towns by the end?
No. No. No. Faceless troll is so right it hurts, how do you people not see this? You were not reading a book or watching a movie, you were playing a video game. If all you care about is story, to the point where almost the entire game portion can be removed and you can still be happy, then pick another medium or play a visual novel or something.
You people are making comparisons to games that don't have a quarter or a fifth of a story to tell as Xenogears did. You could never pull a disc 2 with Dragon Quest or one of the Assassin's Creed games because you would run out of content after the first wall of text.
Xenogears is an example of a storytelling direction that JRPGs could've taken, but have since decided not to. Modern JRPGS have instead remained stuck pandering to fans that want to do nothing but relive the same tropes and cliches from the golden era.
Amazon digital deals actually had these beat. I bought Civ V GOTY for $10.99 and Deus Ex for $9.99. Amazon has really been pushing their digital distribution service, people should check it out more. One week before launch I bought Battlefield 3 LE for $40.
