Sigh, if only they would have released this a few years ago. I destroyed a couple SNES controllers playing Street Fighter II. I was in the highest difficulty setting trying to beat the game without losing a fight. Damn M. Bison and his cheap moves!
RPG is for me. I love how long and "epic" some can be, also the turn based action is something that appeals to me. I also like the "Tactics" type games (FF Tactics, Tactics Ogre, etc) and of course the adventure types too (Zelda, Psychonauts, etc) And finally the other types that take some of my time (Megaman Zero series, Summon Night, Mario Kart, RE4, Trauma Center, Phoenix Wright, and many others)
Types of games that do not interest me in the least are FPS, Sports, "serious" racing, RTS)
Amazing game, it captivated me as soon as I started playing it. One thing I do once I get a new game, is I try it out for about 10 minutes of gameplay to see how it feels. Then I put it down and on the weekend I get into it. Not with this game. I tried to "test" it on a weeknight, and next thing I know I am three hours into it and realize that I gotta go to work. It was hard to let it go. It is amazing what a mature system like the PS2 can do once the designers are allowed a bit of freedom. Shadow of the Colossus, Katamari Damacy, Psychonauts and now this game. If only this sort of games could move into the PSP, then it would stand a chance.
Oh well, time to fire up the DS and play some Trauma Center...
The appeal (at least for me) of playing older titles in a portable format is that I missed a lot of these games the first go around, due to monetary concerns, life itself (joining the Marines) and other reasons. Now, as an older geek with a bit of disposable income and a bit of time, I would love to get down to some ol' school gaming at short bursts. I already have a GBA, and a DS and I love the fact that I can play anywhere, even in the john! So bring it, my wallet awaits!
As a gamer that used to own a PSP this is good news in the sense that with time maybe it will be worth it to go back to the PSP. So far there is SNES emulation on the DS, but it barely works. Maybe once the PSP implements PSX emulation we can get some good games in. My soul for Chrono Trigger!
Thanks JJ. Now, the reason why I posted that was because like Pixelator said, this is not newsworthy, as Nintendo could have the same problem, yet nothing from anyone. I just cannot handle the famboyism. I laugh at the fanboys of all stripes when I see stuff like this posted. I guess in some people's minds Nintendo can do no wrong, or in other's PS3 is going to be teh r0x0r!1 and on a third group the 360 is the future. And of course in each fanboys mind, the other systems are teh sux0r.
In the end it's all going to be about the content. Let us wait until after release and then compare notes. Until then all this flaming is rather pointless, although amusing.
Oh noes... I have a three year-old VAIO. And it is continously on... I guess it is time to get some fire insurance... (funny, I have a POS Gateway, Solo 1150 running Ubuntu, and it does not get that hot....
