@CalmGiant

They're remaking the ENTIRE series. I doubt the whole lot will go toward just one game. They're just trying to 'kickstart' it to see how much community support there will be. Quit bitching.

Introducing BioShock Infinite's second heavy hitter: George Washington with a mini-gun

@lenandude

You're missing the point.

You're putting way too much emphasis in the title of this game. It's called BIOshock. The environment doesn't define the game. It's a flexible name because the purpose of the project is to explore societies set in unconventional environments. The social aspect is focus here.

If by "change of scenery" you mean to say that people aren't happy about moving the setting from the floor of the Atlantic to the sky, you're wrong. This is a welcomed change. There will be plenty of comments on this page to back this up, you were just early on commenting and made a bad assumption.

Assassin's Creed 3 headed to Wii U, first trailer released

@ployer

You are correct in that the Wii U is a new console, but he's referring to none of the other games being on it's predecessor, the Wii. His point was that if you have a Wii and don't have any other consoles, it's unlikely you've ever played an Assassin's Creed game before.

Too friggin' cool! I'm part Tsalagi (Chokee), so this is right up my alley. It'll be fun to see what they do to explore the culture of the time. Echoing the voices of many reading this, I do wonder what this assassin will be climbing. Looking forward to the details!

Quakecon 2012 shakes up Dallas August 2-5

Yeah, I've read similar things about Rage's critical response. I think one of the big problems with it was that iD put all their eggs in one basket. From what I recall, Carmack devoted his keynote and the question panel at Quakecon last year to Rage. Someone asked Carmack about DOOM 4 (which they had promised to talk about during 2010 - http://www.shacknews.com/article/59981/id-promises-doom-4-news) during the QA panel. He responded by saying he doesn’t "really have anything to say about it," and that 2011 was the "year of RAGE."

While the Bethesda umbrella sounds like a pretty neat place to be, I'm not entirely sure how they operate. I would assume iD has a lot of creative freedom, but I could be completely wrong on that. There could be pressures from Bethesda that keep pushing DOOM 4 back. Who knows. If I were to guess, I would say iD has less reign over their products considering the disappointing response to RAGE. After all, iD is still a business, and RAGE took many years to complete. I can't see that favoring them well considering the returns after its release.

Again, I personally enjoyed RAGE. It wasn't everything it could have been, but they certainly deliver in the art department. Here's hoping they'll wise up, take some pointers from Bethesda and invest more into their stories and world they're creating. Looking pretty and playing well is great, but it can only go so far in an FPS this day in age.

For just about any other franchise from that era, I would say no. But this is DOOM we're talking about. DOOM. The grandfather of first-person shooters. (I know Wolfensein is a bit older, but DOOM birthed a new generation of gamers.)

This year marks the third year they were supposed to show something for DOOM 4. The game was announced in May 2008. I'm not sure how many revisions the game has undergone, but seeing how the engine is ready, I don't see how this can take much longer to release. Unless they went back to the drawing board after RAGE was released.

Personally, I liked a lot of things about RAGE. I don't quite feel they explored the story to it's full potential, which seems to be a problem with iD, but overall it was quite enjoyable.

Looking forward to what they come up with for DOOM 4, being that it's my favorite iD franchise.
