The problem with FFXI, in general was the auction house itself. It wasn't an auction house. There was no bidding. You paid what I wanted or else you didn't get the item. The seller controlled the economy instead of the buyer. In a real AH, you can ask for a 1 million but the highest bidder gets it, if thats 1k gil, then so be it. This could not happen in FFXI.
FFXIV is in the same boat. The bazaars are mini FFXI AHs. No bidding. This creates an environment where gil sellers can pretty much control the going price of items and therefore artificially create demand for gil. If SE doesn't change this, 14 might be doomed to suffer the same fate as its parent.
FYI, I'm loving 14, have a good amount of money and am not trashing this game at all. But SE seems to have made the same mistake again that it made all those years ago.
"And, to be very honest, don't let people kid you -- the only reason you might screw up your character in Champions is because you didn't do your homework."
Not only does this sound elitist (and counter productive in a game environment), it speaks to a lack of play time. The powerhouse is a very limited chance to test some powers. Some. That's just the tip of the iceberg.
This retcon in the Cstore speaks to a developer that hasn't listened to its customer base since beta. It's the one issue that consistently came up and Cryptic ignored over and over.
I didn't get angry. I walked away.
Lastly, respecs in WoW are MUCH more viable than they are in CO. Comparing apples (respecs) to oranges (name changes) makes zero sense. Please compare WoW respecs to CO respecs.
Move to a PvE server, dude. I think you were expecting something different here than say, a WoW PvP server which is identical. This article could have been about any PvP server, on any game, in any condition.
I agree with those that say that AoC is awesome now, and, ignore/shut off Global/Barrens chat.
I've played a lot of MMOs and the truth is that most are pretty terrible. East, West or Europe. The basic ideas of grinding, item grinding, etc have all become so mundane that most games are pretty unbearable.
Honestly, nearly every MMO is the same, except for the art styles. Unlike others here, I'm a fan of great art, and Eastern MMO's usually have better looking games, especially compared to the wonky, stilted looking humanoids of Western MMOs (only exception being WoW - minus humans, who look horrid).
I'm waiting for a really drastic departure in MMO design. No levels or something crazy like that. Where the growth is horizontal and not vertical. More abilites as opposed to more powerful abilites. Newer abilites vs. stronger abilities. But what company has the nuts to pull it off? :(

So you want to play the Bayonetta demo early, do you?
