Starcraft 2 Guide: Protoss Power

Aug 10th 2010 3:59AM (Big Download)
Hmmm I can't quite agree with the first 3 points.

1 or 2 zealots are a great choice at the start of the game versus Zerg, because if you wait for the stalker then zerglings will be ravaging your probes long before it's out.
It doesn't hurt to pump out a couple against Terran as well as they're great meat shields for your stalkers which would otherwise melt away at concentrated marine and marauder fire.

Protoss units do heal, their health consists of a regenerative shield layer and then standard health. Standard health is only damaged once the shield is down. So it's a bad idea to simply fully commit units as 1 protoss unit can effectively double or even triple his combat uptime by tactically retreating when the shield goes down. The only race I'd advice to fully commit like this would be Zerg thanks to their extraordinary production capabilities once they have multiple bases operational.
Protoss however need to be conservative with their more expensive units. Retreating and regenerating the shield is a big part of this. The standard health layer is more of a failsafe for allowing the retreat and regen to take place.

A turtling Protoss isn't dead by any means. Thanks to their utility spells (Force Field, Hallucination, Guardian Shield), AoE damage capabilities (Psi Storm, Collosus) and as mentioned before the regenerative shield they can hold of larger armies with a small force and slowly chip away at the enemies resources without losing much of their own.

Crackdown 2 situation one of those 'awkward moments' for Realtime creative director

Jun 17th 2009 10:50AM (Joystiq)
All of you saying it's a dick move by Microsoft and so on... I'm sorry but you're horribly wrong.

The start up studio: Ruffian that gets to do Crackdown 2 is the same team that did Crackdown 1, they seperated with Realtime and made their own studio. Crackdown is Microsoft's IP and they chose to stick with the original development team instead of the studio. A pretty logical decision.

It can be compared to how Guitar Hero/ Rock Band came to be and how everyone seems to hate on Activision for switching out development studios. This time around though Microsoft went for the continuity in development team.
