No you just can't transmog the legendaries themselves. The others in the quest chain are epic level so they can be transmogged.

Unfortunately the caption is also a lie. Most Rogue daggers found in the game are "one-hand" daggers. You can tell main from offhand because of speed (slow main fast offhand).

However the two sets of epics in the legendary chain as well as the legendaries themselves are Mainhand/Offhand.

Why does this matter? As you probably already know you can't transmog a dagger o a certain-handedness to a dagger of a different handedness.

So the epic daggers in the legendary quest chain can't even be changed to most of the dagger models we know and love (including the one pictured).

The are a number of interesting mainhand daggers since most if not all intellect daggers are mainhand, but there are not that many options for offhand daggers.

Its time to re-arm the dragon soul. Can't take the ugly.

Basic rules when it comes to what you want and friends.

1. Go for what you want.
2. If your friends can't or won't handle it maturely, they aren't really worth having as friends.

I love this subject. It flies in the face of such widely held beliefs.
