Metareview: Ninja Gaiden 3
Mar 26th 2012 4:42PM (Joystiq)Well....didn't the developer fire the guy (Itagaki) who was responsible for this game, and thus, how great it was.
MS may have agreed to publish and pre-funded the game for a timed exclusive, but yes, they had very little to do with the development, direction or anything else about the game.
I bet you Itagaki is watching a porn right now, laughing is @ss off!

'What's it like to have your indie game stolen?'
Mar 18th 2012 3:05PM (Joystiq)No, they did not make/port the exact same game but bootlegged/stretched it. That implies they had some sort of their own effort in the game they are saying is theirs.
They downloaded the game and put it up somewhere else for sale as their own code.
"One and One Story hadn't been cloned or copied, but it was completely stolen -- code, graphics and all"
Splosion man was cloned.....again, two COMPLETELY different things. They CANNOT be compared. One is legal, the other is straight up theft.
'What's it like to have your indie game stolen?'
Mar 18th 2012 3:01PM (Joystiq)These two scenarios are COMPLETELY different.
Scenario 1: Wow, that is a great idea for a game. Let's develop a game that completely steals the idea with our own assets, code and effort. If it is good, we can profit from basing our game off of that game.
Scenario 2: Let's download the game code and sell it as our own.
One is complete theft and illegal, while the other is morally reprehensible but still legal. To compare one person's theft of code to one company developing their game to almost mirror the other diminishes this guys trials. So yes, I have a problem with the person posting an asinine comment without understanding what the hell he is talking about.
My rudeness still stands and is justified.

Mar 15th 2012 12:06PM (Joystiq)What!?!
Can you imagine the time it took to conceive and develop these levels in 3D space so they played like they do in 2D. It is like developing a living, traversable M.C. Escher painting. If you don't understand how difficult this is, I don't think you truly understand it.
