PS3 uses Wiimote, consumes competition
Dec 18th 2006 2:19PM (Joystiq Playstation)Free? Unless someone is looking to hand everyone who wants this a PS3 and Wiimote, then sure, it's free. It's rare anything is ever free, especially in the gaming market.
Japanese hardware sales, 4 December - 10 December: Terminator edition
Dec 16th 2006 2:22PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Let's not forget that it's Sony's country too.
Let's discuss -- backwards compatibility downgrades?
Dec 15th 2006 5:46PM (Joystiq Playstation)I've spent a whopping few seconds typing each message. In case you haven't noticed, it's intentional. Typing *paragraphs* about how other people are "crybabies" is ignorant as well.

Dec 15th 2006 4:38PM (Joystiq Playstation)Aww, poor baby. Did I strike a nerve? You type-laugh, but you rant for four paragraphs about random stuff that's irrelevant in most people's lives.

Dec 15th 2006 1:14AM (Joystiq Playstation)PAL Wii owner pulls the ol' region-switch to access more VC titles
Dec 14th 2006 4:20AM (Joystiq)Then you could pay more money for even more titles that have already been released a million times."
I'd take paying $250 for a console that I can just switch the Country option around to get what I want over paying $500 for a region free console that's going to die and have errors hours after turning it on.
"Brilliant, Nintendorks!"
Contrary to your belief, not everyone who has a Wii, and would do something like this is a "Nintendork". Almost two million people can't all be Nintendo fanboys (and that's just people WITH Wii consoles). Furthermore, if you thought this was brilliant, wait until someone figures out how to fix a broken PS3. I think they call that an "act of God".
"Just bend over and take it like Nintendo tells you, like you always do."
Really now. So I guess this means spending $500+ on a console that craps out in less than a month is justified because...? It's sad when you can pay half that, and get more bang for your buck. But don't let me stop you from making a mistake. Don't forget to tell some of the folks in San Fran about how you couldn't get enough Krazy-Ken.
Europe: Wii hopefuls feel the shortage pain
Dec 8th 2006 10:53PM (Joystiq)So far, out of reading comments to that article, one store can actually claim they got ripped off. Supposedly Nintendo took away from one store, and shipped the Wiis to another store (same company, different store). THAT'S the shaft.
I kind of wish the guy commenting after that last comment would shut up. "Boohoo, my store only got 51 units". I thought people complaining about there only being "25 units" were bad.
I feel bad for the people in Europe that actually got screwed over. Not these people who pre-ordered from a store that doesn't guarantee a console at launch. Nintendo not meeting demand isn't "shortages". Nintendo taking Wiis from one store, and sending them to another could be considered "shortages" (and just down-right sad).
Don't get it twisted.
British Wii shortages expected into 2007
Dec 7th 2006 1:09PM (Joystiq)1. Pick a release date
2. Make the game
3. Put it in a box
4. Put it on store shelves on the date you picked in step 1"
As many have said before, it's hard to gauge demand. That's why they tell you supply about a month before the console ships. As for your 4 Step Plan, I don't see where Nintendo messed up. If you've read all three articles by now, you'd realize that none of them actually say there's shortages. They say that supply can't meet demand. Kind of like here in the states. They told everyone when and how many they were shipping, they did just that, but not everyone who wants one got one (my brother for example). Also, I could be wrong (obviously), but all I keep reading is that certain stores are looking to fulfill all their pre-orders. I get the feeling they pre-ordered more than they're actually getting (ala FYE).
"hmmm... odd that both Joystiq and Kotaku used a similiar picture for their similiar stories..."
Odd that both Joystiq and Kotaku aren't actual news sites, but get their news from tons of other sites, just like (almost) everyone else (myself as well). It's quite annoying when someone says/implies that one blog stole from another. It's a blog. They both "stole".
PS3 loses more exclusives
Nov 22nd 2006 6:40PM (Joystiq)Yeah, I'm sure their source (xbox.com) had to look on Kotaku's website first.
Wii launch corrupted by fatal error '110213'
Nov 21st 2006 2:20PM (Joystiq)Do you even understand what's going on with the Wii? No one is denying that this is a problem. That being said, it hasn't happened to very many, and Nintendo is shipping new ones to those people (with broken Wiis) for free.
Let's not forget the little pamphlet that comes with the Wii. It clearly states that you can go to Nintendo's website, and become a "Nintendo Now" member (for free). What this also means is that, when you type in the serial number for your Wii, it will add an additional 90 days to your warranty (for free). So if something like this happened later on, you could still get a new one (for free).
No one should be denying that this IS a problem. If they are, THEN they're probably fanboys. However, you have to keep an open mind about this (and everything that happens with ANY console). Not only is Nintendo handling everything for free, but the 'competition' is having it much worse.
