Nintendo joins US govt's crusade against piracy in China

Apr 10th 2007 3:36PM (Joystiq)
This probably has something to do with the fact that Wii games are being distributed on DVD's now and their chance of being pirated has gone from negligable to probable.

Is Guitar Hero breakin' the law? Breakin' the law?

Apr 5th 2007 3:37PM (Joystiq)
That really irritated me about GH, a friend of mine brought his game over, but forgot his memory card, so we had to play through the entire game on all the difficulties just to play the songs we wanted (he playd on hard, I played on easy, then I played on medium)

I started so bad at the game I couldnt beat the songs on the second level, so I had to play easy, then having to unlock all the songs again on level 2 was a pain, quite irritating, illegal maybe not.

Cheat codes would have been really nice.

I'm starting to think Mike may be a xbox fanboy, he's just faking being one of us to draw attention to our "immaturity".

PS3 sales go down the drain, slight clog

Apr 3rd 2007 5:07PM (Joystiq Playstation)
they shipped 200,000 to the UK for launch right?
They also said they would supply 20,000 per week after launch.

so out of 220,000 units, they sold ~195,000 units.

assuming they met their targets for units shipped (which they rarely do) that still only leaves about 1 unit per store. (assuming 25,000 stores in the UK that sell PS3's)

any less then 1 per store is a sellout correct? maybe some towns/cities have no stock left, and 1 chain gobbled up lots of units to have a big sale.

anything can account for the missing sales. Including loss of interest by the public.

Subway's video game ad reaches new low

Apr 3rd 2007 11:29AM (Joystiq)
Justin, I think you lost your audience when you accused the ad of not correctly copying Pac-Man. I had a hard time taking your article at face value once I heard you complaining that this was a misrepresentation of Pac-Man when I clearly saw it as nothing more then portrayal of a "video game".

PS3 1.60: Background downloading works while gaming

Mar 21st 2007 3:39PM (Joystiq)
Why can't either console download while playin online? I do it all the time on the PC, as long as it doesn't throttle your connection you will be fine, even then its really hard to download enough that you can't do anything else online at the same time. there wont be bittorrent on the PS3 or Xbox anytime soon, and thats the only thing that ever eats up enough resources to even notice ingame.

Italy breaks Euro PS3 street date

Mar 21st 2007 1:17PM (Joystiq)
Why is everyone defending this store in Italy? Sony should retaliate, Street dates are set for a reason, if noone followed them there would be problems, occasionally it happens that they sell software to soon because they didnt realise or forgot about the release date, but to advertise it across the country that you will be breaking the date is completely unaceptable, Sony should pull all their products from this company.
