New games this week: Burnout Paradise edition
Jan 21st 2008 8:30AM (Joystiq)New Ninja Gaiden 2 gameplay video is predictably rad
Dec 19th 2007 12:09PM (Joystiq)Dismemberment does not equal death! Aside from head-chopping, you notice quite a few ninjas missing an arm or a leg (or both legs) still crawling around and fighting. At about 2:40 into the vid, a 1-legged ninja grabs Ryu, stabs him and then explodes.
This whole 'they ain't dead till they're dead' thing seems to be the primary idea with the gameplay additions over NG1. I read (in EGM I think) that even if you decapitate one, there's a chance they'll drop a grenade or otherwise explode. That brings about the various "obliteration techniques" that are peppered throughout the video (different from the blue tinted Essence attacks)--to make sure you kill 'em dead. That's probably the most exciting addition for me, seeing what multiple techniques you can do with each weapon and different kinds of enemies.

Is the DS Lite too small for the large handed?
Aug 6th 2006 7:29PM (Joystiq)I have larger-than-average hands, but i quickly found a way to hold it fairly comfortably.
Don't stick the thing right up in your palms as we've grown accustomed to over the years, hold it resting in your fingers. If you normally tilt down a little while you play, gravity should take care of most of the stability so you really don't have to grip it.
If anything, you can bring your pinkie fingers below it to stabilize it if you tend hit the shoulder buttons forcefully.
Here's a pic:

Hope it helps people!

Change it to low or high. Low will make it similar to the PS2's d-pad, high makes it more like the old Xbox's pad.
Also with those things to take your pad apart, I did something a little different back when DOA4 came out. Nothing was sanded down, but I put a few layers of paper with a doughnut hole in the middle between the plastic pad itself and the contact points. This way you don't have to press it down so much in order for it to register as being 'pressed'. It might help.
I have the DOA4 stick otherwise, and was playing it a bit this morning. The computer kicked my butt hard.
