I played Gothic 2 and 3, Risen, The Witcher 1, and the little known Ultima 9, and these are by far my favorite games (along with Morrowind) due to their incredible worlds and not-so-simple gameplay systems. I get bored once I have 'figured out' the gameplay systems for a game because the magic is then gone (if I do A, then B and C happens. Spam D. Done.). Funnily, I couldn't get into Mass Effect 1 because the fighting was so bland to me (playing an Adept which seems to mean spell, spell, cooldown for 5 minutes, spell, spell, done).
Anyway, all I am saying is that you do give a nod to those of us who enjoy the complexity of games like this, and are willing to overlook the god awful UI, but you seem to be a bit elitest about it, calling to your buds to meet at ME3 this weekend with the cheerleaders and so on.
@Lukeyo Of course everyone has different tastes in music, but yeah, I do call a 4 measure riff that repeats for 5 minutes a song. The song produces a strong emotional atmosphere for me. If it doesn't move you much, that's ok, it's just not for you.
He knew about the 1up right? He just chose not to get it... I mean... I dunno what I'd do with myself if he didn't know. I think I'd lose all faith in gaming and humanity.
my brother and law and I have been discussing doing the exact same thing for the past year... we just never got off our butts and did it. He has never seen the mario movie, so we figured itd be a perfect opportunity for some candid shots of the disgust on his face when he sees what koopa looks like.
I wanted to see it happen just so that the novelty of it would become widespread. After that it seemed inevitable that it become part of actual gameplay in other games. Wonder why they pulled it? Maybe nintendo secretly hates Johnny Lee...
I really like shmup games like this. after playing gradius 5 on ps2 i couldnt get enough of em. went and dl'd a ton of japanese ones which are just impossible, as well as the classics on nes and snes. bought ikaruga for gamecube, rezhd for 360. yeah there is a market for these. this game looks pretty nifty to me too. ill wanna see it in action before i buy it though.
