I'd like to see benchmarks on UT3. Mark Rein was noted to say the more cores you have, the better the game will run, and so it should be the best test (for gamers) for how good these chips really are.
Jeff is pretty much right . . . Epic is known for putting out very finished products. You have to remember that this game is meant for the multiplayer: there are ALWAYS bugs missed in online multiplayer games and they ALWAYS need some sort of update (Halo 2/3 had updates, did they not? it didn't make them bad games). Epic just wants to make sure that they've caught everything they possibly can, but you can only go so far testing these games in a closed setting.
I cried myself to sleep the night they replaced UT2k4 with Painkiller as the official arcade FPS for CPL. That was the worst idea ever. As a UT2k4 fan(boi), I hope this game sucks . . . UT3 ftw!!
I've heard logitech actually manufactures most of Microsoft's mice, is that true? (serious question) The scroll wheel looks really similar to the new ones on the Revolution mice from Logitech.
Andrei is right . . . 4000 dpi is relatively useless, I think moving the mouse one inch would take the cursor all the way across your desktop. Three times. I don't even know if you could set the in-game mouse sensitivity low enough to compensate. .001 maybe?
As #7 said, there were almost 100 maps in UT2k4. I find it interesting that UT3 would drop down to only 30 or 40 because, as #12 said, there are so many game types. Basically what this means, is that these maps are going to be absolutely outrageous in terms of detail (and probably on some accounts, playable area). I'm wondering if the developers are expecting fans to do remakes of many of the maps that continue to define the UT franchise (Deck 17, Orbital 1&2, Grendel Keep), and are focusing more on completely original content. There is no way 40 maps total is going to work for players that focus on just one gametype, such as CTF or DM. It doesn't matter what other games have, it's whether or not UT3 can live up to the reputation.
