Select GameStops in NY, OH and PA selling Modern Warfare 2 already [update: Activision responds]

He's no asshole, most games released on Tuesday... Look at next Tuesday...

Are you new to the industry?

Overheard@TGS: At least someone's happy ...

Wow, calm down there Chris, he brings up a valid point. Forza i releasing during the Christmas season, against few, albeit large, other AAA title. GT5 will be releasing during a non-holiday season, against a lot more AAA titles (thanks to all the push backs and delays), which will affect it sales. Hell, coming out even semi-close to God of War III will probably steal away from it sales.

Interview: Xbox's Aaron Greenberg on the $300 Elite and all things Xbox

The 360 still has some out of box bonuses (backward compatibility, a headset, and an ethernet cable), but the PS3 offers much more value in the current state of things.

I'm aware, thanks for pointing out something I stated in the first paragraph of my post.

Cheers.

Wow, that guy is a complete asshat, way to dodge every legitimate question thrown your way. I'm sad to say it, but the PS3 is most definitely the better deal out of the box. The 360 still has some out of box bonuses (backward compatibility, a headset, and an ethernet cable), but the PS3 offers much more value in the current state of things.

Microsoft needs to pull its head out of its ass, it's getting ridiculous at this point. When most DS lites come standard with wifi for barely more than $100, Microsoft is just price gouging because consumers are too blind to see what they're doing. Most of their other accessories are in the same boat, cut the shit Microsoft.

However, I do still prefer the 360 controller over the PS3 controller by a large amount, and the 360 exclusives and Live service out way what the PS3 has to offer. I own both systems (360 Pro and 60 gig PS3), but my 360 sees far more play time.

Sony announces new PS3 Slim, coming first week of Sept. [update: now with pics!]

Initially, not eventually.

And the systems are indeed battling, not acknowledging that is just plain ignorant. All three console are fighting for sales, exclusives, consumer loyalty and much more. As long as there is more than one "current gen" system, it will continue to be this way. Always has, always will.

I bet it will eventually, but I very much doubt it will in the long run, especially once the 360 gets it's almost now guaranteed price drop.

We'll see, I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt it.

Hmmmm, this is indeed good news for Sony...

Will it help them recover from the massive losses they've been taking since the PS3 released? We'll see...

And I'll be sticking with my 60 gig, losing BC just isn't an option for me, plus it looks better.

I started reading about 4-5 months ago when I heard about you guys from my boss at work (Gamestop). I really enjoy your site and your frequent updates, E3 was great! Much more info than any other sites I've seen. Keep it up.

Parting shots: Reeves expects PS3 to be dominant in 3-5 years

May 1st 2009 10:22AM (Joystiq)
As previously stated, in 3-5 years the next generation of systems will be out, so the PS3 domination 360 and wii in sales won't be that impressive. The system is a solid system, but it can't compete with the 360 or wii due to its high cost. The system is not the best system ever made, and that shows from its dismal sales (360s selling better than them in Japan?) and the 2.7 billion dollar loss Sony took last year. Yes, it does have some great exclusives coming up, but Sony tends to announce its big ticket items way in advance to garner interest in its systems.

Microsoft will announce exclusives and big titles at E3, and it will compete with Sony no problem, just like the last two years. There's no reason that the 360, with many more exclusives (not to mention exclusive extra content), than the PS3 would suddenly drop down to none. And I really think people are under estimating the power of the Halo franchise. Halo ODST will sell more units than most of Sony's upcomming exclusives combined.

Sony needs a lot of work. It needs to make the PS3 affordable and appealing to more people, to you know, make money and potentially stay in the market. It also needs to do the same with the PSP. Yes, there's likely a new upgrade or a new PSP going to be announced at E3, but as Nintendo has shown us it probably won't matter due to the DS. The DSi was selling 43 units a minute the first 48 hours it was out in Japan, the third version of the DS was shipping over 100k units in 2 days, in one country. Has the PSP ever done that?

And someone mentioned a PS3 bundled with Killzone 2 and LBP. Yes, it sounds like a great idea, but the current bundle (with Uncharted) barely sells, and Killzone isn't nearly as big as Halo, or as played. It's like trying to compete against a Mario or Pokemon game, it just can't happen. I'm sure some people would enjoy it, but the price would be astronomical, this putting off even more potential buyers.

The PS3 still has a lot of work to do to even catch up to the other two systems, let alone make a profit. It now has some decent exclusives coming out for it (I can't wait for Infamous or GoW 3), but it still has to compete against the exclusives on the other two systems, and deal with the fact that crossplatform games sell better on the 360 on an almost 2:1 basis.
