Sky TV to offer cable access via broadband in the UK

Feb 1st 2012 4:07AM (Joystiq)
@Thurnbs

Yeah this article will be all kinds of confusing to British readers (ie the people who would actually be interested in the news) . Saying Sky customers will be able to get cable through broadband will make them think they can get Virgin media.

You'd think the name "Sky" would be a big enough hint...

Report: EA shuts down Bright Light after consultation process

The curse of the developers of the main HP games continues.

Argonaut were another Harry Potter studio to close.

Xperia Play phones given away at GDC end up on eBay

Mar 9th 2011 4:31AM (Joystiq)
Why is this surprising?

If I was given an expensive new phone as a freebie and didn't want to replace my existing one I'd probably stick it on ebay too.

I think you'll find the longest title ever is : "Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army"

Computer 'glitch' causes university to send out false acceptance letters

Aug 11th 2010 2:33AM (Engadget)
I went to Middlesex university. Studied at the Trent Park campus, wasn't amazing. Old buildings, you had to get a shuttle bus from the tube station (which there was often a queue for, causing you to miss your lecture) and the students union bar was expensive (£3.50 a pint).

Also had really low entry requirements, they accepted me even though I was below the entry level needed (I was a victim of badly marked test papers and got a C later changed to a B)

Chin Hua solar glass generates electricity, lets (most of) the sun shine in

Jun 9th 2010 11:53AM (Engadget)
Unless they did this in double glazing form, you'd lose more energy in heating/cooling than you'd generate.

Would be handy for car sunroofs though. Hook it up to the car battery and it'd probably generate enough power to prevent it going flat.

Pandigital Novel goes on sale, hopes you'll take a look

@EngadgetFreak

Most of these are aiming more at e-readers than the ipad.

Apple didn't invent the tablet form factor and these bear little resemblance to the ipad other than the fact it's flat and the front is mostly taken up by the screen

800x600
6 hour battery life
Android

Not to be sniffed at but a lot of its usability will depend on its visibility in sunlight and CPU speed.

GP2X gaming handheld modded with D-pad, PSP batteries (video)

May 21st 2010 4:51AM (Engadget)
I actually did something very similar to this.

Put two 3g ipod batteries in parallel and got nearly double the battery life over nimh cells. Had to cut out the battery compartment of the GP2x (battery cover still fitted though and had to charge it using crocodile clips but other than that it was pretty easy.

Apple's 4th-generation iPhone revealed

Wow, Gizmodo are engaging in theft/vandalism of other people's property now?

Just because you've found something someone lost, that doesn't mean it's yours.
