PS3's Oblivion will come to Xbox 360 and PC too

Oct 13th 2006 9:17AM (Joystiq)
"$60 game plus $x for the added content would be more than the flat $60 for the PS3 version. "

You forget that just buying a PS3 will cost $200 more than buying an Xbox360.

Besides, you can get Oblivion FOR FREE when you puchase an Xbox 360 from Amazon during October, so your argument really just doesn't make any sense.

1UP urges us to buy, not steal

Oct 4th 2006 9:49AM (Joystiq)
I paid $70 for FF2(4) & $80 for FF3(6) back in the day. Those games were worth every penny, even though they were priced very high for video games. And while I will be playing FF12 before the 31st, I still plan on purchasing it on the 31st (as long as the game is good & not a huge dissapointment like Final Fantasies 7-11 were).

I'm sure I'll catch shit for that last comment, but that's my opinion.

Wii not supporting DVD playback

Sep 14th 2006 2:34PM (Joystiq)
I don't see why anything would stop Nintendo or a third party from selling a DVD Player application through the Wii Store channel (aka Virtual Console), much the same way the Opera browser will be handled.

I would rather not pay the MPAA's DVD licensing fees anyway - I want this system to play games, not to watch movies (I have a nice Oppo upconverting DVD player for watching movies).

Wii to get Super Paper Mario, lose DVD playback? [update 1]

Sep 7th 2006 11:28AM (Joystiq)
Losing the DVD playback functionality may be a cost-cutting measure. I'm pretty sure that if the Wii came with DVD playback functionality out of the box Nintendo would have to pay royalty fees to the MPAA for every Wii sold. But, if they sell DVD Playback seperately as an addon, then Nintendo can pass on those costs to the consumers who really want to play DVDs on the Wii, while keeping the cost of the base system low for people who just want to play games on it.

Besides, you can get a DVD player for about the same price as a DVD movie nowadays, so who cares.

2008 Toyota Corolla images surface

Aug 30th 2006 8:32AM (Autoblog)
Toyota needs to fire all of their designers except for the ones that designed the FJ Cruiser. The new Camry is ugly as hell, the Echo was hideous, the Yaris & 2008 Corolla look like Hyundai designs from a few years ago, the Tacoma & Tundra are boring looking (too many curves, not enough lines). It's a good thing Toyota has their great reputation for quality, because they sure as hell aren't moving cars because due to their styling.

Rumor: Will Nintendo punk us with the Wii?

Aug 28th 2006 11:00AM (Joystiq)
The Intangible Fact posted: "I owned all the systems last gen and I only recall one game on the gamecube that hyped me up on graphics and that was RE4. It was only good because of the pre-rendered backgrounds."

RE4 was completely rendered in real-time. The fact that you thought the backgrounds were prerendered should make you respect the graphical abilities of the Gamecube even more. I am still amazed at how good RE4 looks - there are many times that it even looks better than Oblivion for the 360 & the PC (I still think the people & monsters in RE4 look way better than the ones in Oblivion).

I think the Wii will look significantly better than the shots we've seen so far - Nintendo still has an ace up it's sleeve.

More gas cap news: Chrysler going yellow for E85

Aug 11th 2006 4:01PM (Autoblog)
I have owned an E85-compatible car for 6 years now & I have yet to see a gas station that sells it. The color of the gas cap is not going change that simple fact. I think most people would have an easier time finding a Yeti or the Loch Ness monster than finding this mythical E85 stuff. Does it even exist? If so, where in the entire state of Florida can I fill up my tank with some? I live in Orlando, FL which is the most traveled-to city on the planet - shouldn't I be able to find it here?

Saturn to receive next-gen Opel Vectra Wagon

Jul 31st 2006 5:35PM (Autoblog)
"Saturn's known for making plastic small cars - I don't think there's too much brand value there."

Toyota used to be known for the same thing - small, cheap, plastic-y cars - but they evolved, just like Saturn is trying to do.

GM would be very smart to turn Saturn into the American badge for Opel automobiles.

Speaking of which, Ford should market its international cars under the Mercury badge as well.

Chrysler kicks off Employee Pricing Plus with 30-day guarantee and 0% financing

I wonder if & when Ford & GM will be following suit. Hopefully it will be soon, as the wife has her heart set on getting a new car this weekend.

How much would you spend on a PS3 game?

Jun 28th 2006 11:37AM (Joystiq)
These game prices are getting out of hand. I will not pay $60+ for a game, and if Sony thinks they can charge that much then I can guarantee my PS3 will have a modchip in it.

I picked up SSX:On Tour & Metroid Prime 2 brand new this week for $5 each along with many other great games (over 15 games) for less than $10 (Circuit City & Game Rush clearance sales). After hitting these clearance sales, the idea of paying $60+ for one game just seems like robbery.

I did pay $70 for Final Fantasy II & $80 for Final Fantasy III when they first came out for the SNES, but I was in middle school back then, and didn't have any bills to pay (and I still consider those 2 games to be worth every penny I spent on them).
