I think that's how most game jams work. Though I think for the Global Game Jam at least you have to show up on-site at least once, but I'm not sure.
With that being said, I might as well leave a link to the game our team finished. It's a three-player local co-op platformer where you all three control the same character, but you have to work with the other players in order to move in the correct direction.
