Analyst: PS3 to miss target by 25% due to "poor sales"
Jan 15th 2007 5:15PM (Joystiq)Drop the price Sony and I will pick one up.
Best Buy selling hoarded PS3s tomorrow morning
Dec 30th 2006 8:25PM (Joystiq)Today's hottest game video: XFPS demo
Dec 23rd 2006 2:06PM (Joystiq)I have tried many a time and have had PC games. I dont like the controls for PC games. If I did I would be a PC gamer.
PC fanboys need to stop talking about how consoles feel uncomfortable. It is merely your opinion.
If PC gaming was the way to go then we would be talking about the next generation of PC gaming and not consoles. There is a reason why consoles are more popular. One they are simpler to upgrade. You buy one every 5 or so years.
Two the controllers are pick em up and play unlike PC.
Moore claims 360 will surpass 10 million milestone
Dec 6th 2006 6:49PM (Joystiq)Now for sales.
US and Europe actually have the two largest markets and dwarf that of Japan by twice as much. In fact last generation the PS2 sold over 40 + million units in both Europe and the US while it barely sold over 20 million in Japan. Therefore it is very possible a console need only to excel in Europe and the US to win a generation.
Furthermore the Xbox 360 has SOLD over 8+ million units worldwide. This is faster that the PS2 sold in its first year. This is a huge feat considering the Xbox 360 has not even had its price drop like the PS2 did have in its first year on the market.
Secondly Microsoft now makes approx. $80.00 per Xbox 360 Premium sold.
This is before the new 65nanometer chip is out. Therefore it is reasonably to think that the Xbox 360 will have a $100.00 price drop next year which will be more than the PS3 could fathom since Sony is still working out Production issues on its current Version 1 PS3.
It is pretty clear that Microsoft will undoubtedly finish 1st this generation because they in fact will be over 10,000,000 by December 31 of this year.
Keep in mind that the PS3 wont even be launching in Europe until MArch of next year at the earliest. By this time the PS3 will be competing with the Xbox 360 with an installed base worldwide of about 14 Million units.
There is no sense in arguing about the success of the Xbox 360. It is a Success.
It will more than likely win this generation. The question now is who will come in second. Either the PS3 or the Wii.
Until the PS3 gets production issues resolved it looks like the Wii has the best shot at reaching the coveted second place. However as we all know the Wii's graphics are less than spectacular and it may not have staying power.
The battle really isnt between the Xbox 360,PS3, or the Wii anymore. The 360 barring catastophic production inability will win.
Anyone who is considering the Xbox 360 to be the next dreamcast is sorely naive. The Xbox 360 by the end of its this year will have matched the Dreamcast lifetime sales. In fact it will actually have sold more than the Sega Saturn.
This is all within its first year. When the price drop happens it will even sell more.
Bottomline stop trolling about the system being a failure. If you dont like the games for it thats your opinion. Then again I dont see how thats possible because it has more games than both the PS3 and Wii combined. Therefore talking about its games like they suck means your a fanboy and have nothing better to do but troll.
Peace,
MacDAD
Microsoft reiterates 10M Xbox 360 target
Dec 5th 2006 6:28PM (Joystiq)Microsoft reiterates 10M Xbox 360 target
Dec 5th 2006 6:24PM (Joystiq)Xbox 360 has sold 2.9 million in USA ONLY through October. In November the analyst say the will sell another 750,000. That puts them at 3.65 million. In December they forcasted another 1.5 million sold to 2 million. That puts them between 5.65 million and 6.65 million in the US ALONE!
That does not include Canada, Mexico, and of course the other major gaming powerhouse....EUROPE!
Bottomline is that Microsoft will easily sell 10,000,000 by the end of this year. This is a huge feat considering the system has not even had its first price drop. Imagine how this system is going to sell once the core is at $199.00 and the premium is at $299.00.
I feel this is an impressive feat nonetheless and am amazed that it has sold so well without Halo 3 on shelves.
Then again the games have been great for it.
If you dont own it you are really missing out.
