I see what you're saying but my simple reply to that is this isn't Mass Effect. I really like my Elven Mage Nuker. It'd be cool if just once they made a series that you can continually bring in your previous characters to give a sense of a truly epic journey. That's kind of what I figured the Origins part of the first game alluded to.

Anyone else a little disappointed with the direction they went with this? I mean, there's a fixed protagonist and you can't import any of your characters from the previous game.

haven't payed the demo yet but Jedi Academy was the best Star Wars game for me so far, I really wish they'd use this tech and make a new one of those.
