Report: Brazil is a 'haven' for video game piracy
May 13th 2009 8:26PM (Joystiq)I am the small percentage that only buy originals (I have a Wii and PS3) and I do that because I know how to import games. Retail games are $60 in US, but in here games are 280BRL because of the taxes. That also aply for console, hardware, PC and a very big list of products. Even free hardware is taxed in here. Mario Kart Wii costed more than 300BRL just because of the plastic streering wheel.
I personally blame the government for the those taxes, but I still have hope that someday the nacional market will rise again. I also have a huge interest for game development but the actual scenario of Brazil makes things neraly impossible for that.
