I honestly don't think it looks as nice as the black model. Don't see what all the hype is about.

I say it could be to give carriers time to build out LTE networks as well. Though I'm hoping it's not true because my 3GS is getting long in the tooth. Slowdowns and choppyness while shooting birds at pigs is unacceptable!

not to mention that it costs magazine publishers no more money to produce an iPad version of a magazine. That is straight revenue.

One of the major reasons I haven't purchased an iPad is because I can't get my magazine subscriptions delivered to the device at a reasonable cost. I'd much rather not have to bother with stacks of magazines that I either keep because I want a random article from it or end up recycling on Friday morning.

Change is scary. Publishers need to step away from their printing presses and realize that many customers these days want, and are willing to pay for, digital delivery of their content. But we aren't going to pay *MORE* money than the physical counterpart. That just makes no sense at all.

That's not true - I have both 2008 and 2011 on my machine.

The icon kind of looks like a maxi-pad.

I hope tons of people bail from AT&T... leave more bandwidth for me :)

@James Sonne I'd like color because I'd love to have a way to read magazines on a digital device.

I'd say that at this point it doesn't make much sense for apple to bother with a CDMA iPhone. Seeing that AT&T and verizon are the likely US partners, and they are both building out standardized LTE networks, it would be more likely to see a LTE compatiable model.

@BrentSchmidt I tried to get one but couldn't ever find one in stock anywhere. After 1.5 months on a waiting list I bought a D700.

I've been running the beta since April and it is such an improvement from the 2008 version. It is much more natural going from PC versions to the Mac version which makes WAY more sense. Most of us already know how to use Word, so why not make it work the way we know?

And Outlook on mac is freaking awesome. Entourage was the bane of my existence. Outlook is easily the best piece of software MS has ever written. It is most definitely welcome here on my Mac(s).
