And suddenly 90% of the people who play stopped playing.

I think what's happened here is squeenix need to leave it to be F2P for a while longer. They released an unfinished game, but then did the honourable thing and made it F2P until they were satisfied that it was of a decent enough standard. The big update last month did improve things, but it still needs, plain and simpy, more content.

Also, MMORPGs take a while to get a feel for. Most of the new content still hasn't been fully discovered by a lot of players and they might still be on the fence about paying for it.

If squeenix just makes it free for another month or two, then i'm sure they will retain a much larger percentage of players when it becomes P2P.
