BlizzCon: What we know about the new Death Knight class
Aug 4th 2007 1:36PM (Joystiq)"players will be able to create a new death knight character, which will start at a high level."
Horray, they successfully avoided fixing the broken level 20-50 content for another two years.
Sam & Max Season 2 starts this Fall
Jul 26th 2007 3:10AM (Joystiq)In the first episode, you're introduced to this new world and it's amazing how much detail they put in the few areas you had access to. In each subsequent episode, it becomes more and more obvious that the designers are desperate to recycle content rather than spend development time to create anything new.
By episode 5, I was sick to death of the stupid Soda Poppers... and Bosco got old after episode 3. Yes, reoccuring themes can be useful and can sometimes be creative (i.e. always starting the game in the duo's office and having different reactions to the environment there) but shoveling the same 5 NPC characters down your throat is maddening.
Joystiq first look: Guitar Hero III
Jul 12th 2007 2:45AM (Joystiq)The more I hear about Guitar Hero 3, the more underwhelmed I become. The more I hear about Rock Band, the more excited I get.

Two Worlds is (apparently) the most epic RPG ever
Jun 29th 2007 7:21PM (Joystiq)The character models, animation, lip sync, and just about everything else graphically are horrendous. I do have to say that the gameplay matches the graphics perfectly: craptacular.

Apr 4th 2007 9:27AM (Joystiq)For those of you who are returning your guitars to fix the issue with an unresponsive whammy bar, you very well might be returning a fully functional guitar. There is a bug in the game that Red Octane could easily patch to fix the issue.
Here's what I've discovered...
I too have a whammy bar that was unresponsive about 60% of the time. In frustration, I plugged it into my PC to see what exactly is going on. In the control panel, under the game controllers section, you can see the raw information that the controller is sending to Windows. My whammy bar showed a full range of motion, no problems at all.
In Guitar Hero, in order to get my whammy bar to work, I just have to pull up on the whammy bar before pressing down on it... this works 100% of the time for me. The problem stems from what the game detects as the starting position of the whammy bar. Unfortunately, it's coded to only accept a whammy if the bar is in it's topmost position (100%.) An easy fix for Red Octane would be to adjust that amount to around 75%.
So, if you think you have a broken guitar, plug it into your Windows-based PC and see what Windows says about the guitar. If you have a full range of motion, DO NOT RETURN YOUR GUITAR. I am certain that Red Octane will patch this issue as soon as possible.
World waits for World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade
Jan 16th 2007 11:58PM (Joystiq)By adding a horde paladin and an alliance shaman, they have removed what made each side different and unique. Now there is no difference whether I roll a horde or alliance character.
I've played since late beta, and on the day of the expansion I cancel my account and begin my search for the perfect MMO anew. I hope Vanguard can give me longer lasting satisfaction than WoW.
I leave with fond memories, but it's time to move on.

Dec 4th 2006 8:19PM (Joystiq)They could even do an ethics system where if you kill more civilians, the more favorably viewed by the Gestapo you are. Eventually in the game, it branches to two different campaigns, one where you are a member of the SS and another where you continue as a regular German foot soldier.
And if you think it's morally wrong to make or play such a game, then explain why the Medal of Honor game based on the pacific war was released in Japan. Yes, Japaneses gamers were virtually killing their parents and grandparents for enjoyment.
