Today's just thought of game video: City of Heroes inventions

May 18th 2007 11:58AM (Joystiq)
Yea it more or less is a just a crafting system. But it has changed the game over what it had been for the past 3 years. It's opened up tons of new options as far as character development.

Crafting was never a major issue in the game before now. In truth without a crafting system gold farmers, kill stealers, and spammers have never been a problem because there's no profit in it. And besides how much crafting have you ever seen wolverine or superman do any crafting?

It's nice to have but no critically necessary.

COH is so far the only MMO I ever hit the level cap, also a 36 month vet. it's not perfect but it's easily the best PvE group experience around. Teamwork and the synergy between archetypes gives you infinite group options. A good group is an amazing experience. The game is well suited for soloing.

April NPD: Nintendo dominates, industry sales up 20%

May 17th 2007 9:42PM (Joystiq)
Ok 6 months since the Wii launch and 6 months of looking at sales numbers and we can draw a few conclusions from this data. I think it's now time for all the Nintendo haters to finally accept that the PS3 isn't going to bury the Wii... and the PSP isn't going to wipe away Nintendo's hand held dominance and drive nintendo out of making hardware. So no the next Mario game isn't going to be a PS3 release.

I know you've held on to these delusions for 3 years but it just isn't going to happen.

Lord of the Rings Online free until April 24

Well Namezarc look at it this way you can pay $120 per year or you can pay $180 per year. $60(33%) off is a deal in my book... or you can shell out $200 and play the game forever, hey UO is in it's 10th year. The lifetime fee pays for itself in less than 2 years. I've spent more money than that on wow.

'Secret passwords' lost in Kid Icarus VC

Feb 13th 2007 9:10PM (Joystiq)
Let me get this straight. All you pissing and moaning about nintendo's 12 digit friend code are now pissing and moaning that kid Icarus doesn't include the even more tedious 20 letter password system?

The password save system was the worst part of the game. I rejoiced when I first saw the legend of Zelda's battery backup in action, made life so much easier. The Wii's ability to save states in any game will improve this game tremendously.

Anyone complaining about this must be deliberately trying to be dumber today than they were yesterday.

Yet you don't see repetitive gameplay when you've played the 13th first person WW2 shooter released this year?

Toyota Tundra starts at $22,395 (and BTW, it tows 10,800 lbs.)

"It is a great thing they've got going...the customer is convinced that they have to have Toyota, or they will end up sitting on the side of the road, broken down within a week."

Because it's actually happened. All the Toyota bashers proudly proclaim they would never own a Toyota. Most of the Toyota lovers have owned domestic cars at some point. that's the primary difference between the two groups.

Everyone here's slamming toyota because the profits go to japan. Why aren't you people slamming GM and Ford for making piles of barely mobile garbage?

My uncle has been a big "buy American" kind of guy. but he almost bought a Camry last year. Almost... but he backed out at the last minute and instead he bought a Monte Carlo when I asked him about it the first thing out of his mouth is what's wrong with the car, the 2 big problems are in order to pick up a radio station you have actually be parked next to the transmitter, and it doean't matter anyway because at highway speeds the cars so noisy you can't here the radio anyway. He actually complained to GM but no one cared. Spending that kind of money and to regret your purchase is it any wonder the domestic makers are sinking ships? they honestly earned their reputations for making crap.

I bought a new Toyota 6 months ago (scion TC), a sporty little coupe with one of those never break down Camry engines. My biggest complaint is the Ipod controls could've been designed to allow easier access to the song lists, I can live with that. For me buying a domestic brand car is a giant risk it's not like buy a VCR. If I'm spending $20,000 the damn thing BETTER RUN RIGHT!

Reading all your uninformed bashing about a product you freely admit you'd never give a fair chance to does nothing convince me to go buy a Chevy. Owning a Chevy that ran great would have convinced me but it's too late for that because I'm through repeating mistakes... knowing someone with a good experience would be the second best way but there are few such people in the world.

Shadowbane developers announce new project

Jan 15th 2007 6:05PM (Joystiq)
Shadowbane tried to push PvP to a whole new level, they weren't completely successful but the took it farther than any other game before or since. I wish all these MMO developers would NOT try to clone warcraft and actually push the envelope.

PlayStation 3 is a decent bargain, as a Blu-ray player

Dec 27th 2006 6:00PM (Joystiq)
I actually know a guy who did this. He bought a PS3 for a cheap blu-ray player. He's an older guy no interest in games but wanted blu-ray player, as a bonus the grandkids have something to play when they visit.

By the way is there still a shortage of PS3's? I was a little surprise when he said he walked into gamestop and picked up a PS3 with no problem.
