Way to fight the machine, Morello. I'm sure signing a thousand-dollar contract for a mass-market game to earn a corporation more money really supports your anti-capitalist message.
It's actually UK taxpayers for a start, and clearly the writer knows sweet FA in regards to what he's saying, because the royal family cost each individual British person 27p per year. That's about 55cents then; and it'd be less in America 'cause there's more people. It's literally a barely noticeable sum, so we're not angry at all. Except maybe anti-royalists.
Which taxpayer would complain about 27p/year, considering the extortionate tax we Brits otherwise face!
Sony's best move they could possibly do would be to make it work & sync with WMP, with explorer integration so you could also (if you wanted to) drag and drop music and video into it like a hard drive. I'd buy it in an instant if it did. I bought their NW-HD3 which was simply awesome, but a year later Sonicstage began to get to me and it had to be sold. It's a shame because its battery life and music quality trumped the iPod's at the time.
