Verizon says original Droid 'doesn't have the hardware' to support a mobile hotspot

Aug 2nd 2010 5:25PM (Engadget)
Someone better tell my Droid that it can't do what Barnacle has been allowing it to do for months now. It goes against the laws of Verizon physics, captain!

Dell Studio XPS 9100 arrives with six cores, little fanfare

Nothing good has ever come from my buying a Dell computer. It always ends badly, and it always ends far too soon. I have taken to avoiding Dell computers like Europe wishes to avoid another round of Black Death.

Viliv's N5 UMPC finally reviewed, deemed worth the wait

Slashgear says pricing for the non-3G model will be $649, out on July 17th. For me, that is FAR too much for far too little and far too late. The original statement from Viliv back in January was that it would come in at under $500. Sorry, Viliv, I ain't going to be buying this for that much.

Best Buy's $40 'pre-optimization' determined to be worthless, iPhone earbuds determined to be white

First thing I do when I get a new computer is install CCleaner and do the purge myself. I'm not paying someone to open the box and mess with my system. If the seal is broken, I'm not buying it.

HarperCollins now also thumbing nose at e-book industry with digital delay

@canny The current state of technology is making an entire industry obsolete...once more artists of all kinds realize that they don't need the publishers anymore, that they can create, edit and publish for themselves, what will happen to these monstrous companies? They worry about piracy, but the true danger is artists getting it done for themselves. How amazing would that be? I so look forward to that day...

Well, one thing is for sure...if I ever end up writing the book I know I will someday write, there is no way I am going through a publisher. I have already self-published a chemistry textbook, it's available for free as a PDF download on my website. The last thing I want to do is deal with people who make their money pimping my talent. I'd rather give my talent away than that.
