Miyamoto flattered, not worried by Sony, Microsoft motion controllers
Jun 8th 2009 8:10AM (Joystiq)No, that was DUELTASTIC!..
E3 2009's crown jewel of trailers: Uncharted 2
Jun 4th 2009 8:29AM (Joystiq)I'll be honest. I've always loved the MGS series and I hold a special place for them, but this trailer alone beats MGS in terms of voice acting and facial expressions. I doubt the story's as good, but it always bothered me how MGS had such sucky facial expressions and some of ther actors always seemed a bit too corny when acting (but that might be because of some of the voice acting). Then again, they "act too much" in MGS. It doesn't sound real. But I guess I'm alone in this one. The japanese version does sound great (thou I'd rather play the game in English) but the facial expressions are still lacking.
Uncharted 2 is the kind of game I'd love to just sit back and watch. Why play it? It DOES look like a movie, and I don't have nothing against watching it. It's not my type of action gameplay. Too many "cover" shooters nowadays, and I've never been interested in any of them. Was only interested in the first (which wasn't GoW, but Killswitch), and then never again.
New look at New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Jun 3rd 2009 2:59PM (Joystiq)It's like no one played this version on the DS. The graphics are THE SAME. And I mean THE SAME. I have this game on the DS, and I played it with my friend (he as luigi, me as mario). And trust me: although it works as a timetrial/vs on a level, it's also a lot of fun.
But it bothers me that people are treating the game as if it was something completely different and original. This is a port of the DS game with 2 more players added, more levels and powerups, but the exact same game engine.
Yes the DS original has physics, sliding, wall jumps, etc.
It's not important, but it does bother me. Maybe no one plays the DS -.-
Impressions: Final Fantasy XIII
Jun 3rd 2009 8:44AM (Joystiq)Because Shiva transforming into a motorbike can't be covered by one facepalm.
I hope Ifrit transforms into a Racket and then its owner plays Tennis with him. Serving balls of fire. Sounds good. I should work for Square Enix.
Forza 3 trailer is less of the Forza you love
Jun 2nd 2009 6:15PM (Joystiq)Au revoir.
Forza 3 trailer is less of the Forza you love
Jun 2nd 2009 2:31PM (Joystiq)I liked playing Sega Rally, Daytona USA, and even today's Burnout. They're arcade games, and they know it. It's their objective: fun.
Adding Auto-Brake to a supposed Racing Simulation, doesn't make it good. That's not versatility, that's idiocy. It's the difference between adding a Very Easy mode, and adding a God mode. There's a reason why God mode is available in FPS games on the console only. It's a cheat. Not a "mode from children to enjoy the games".
And the guy who said that was a wonderful mode isn't 7 years old, I'm certain.
Forza 3 trailer is less of the Forza you love
Jun 2nd 2009 9:37AM (Joystiq)It's hilarious from start to end. I simply love "game-marketing". Somehow the guys behind every game trailer/teaser/interview, always act like the people watching it are complete dumbfound idiots. Sure, the majority is like that.. and that's why we have so many people believing in every single thing they see on their first trailer (and that's why the game community nowadays is comprised of children or childish 20 year olds).
But then again, if they know that people with an inch of forehead are also watching this crap, why do they even bother?
Kinda like the "imagine" bullshit. That shit sells everywhere, except in my country, I'm positive. I've never seen that shit for sale anywhere. Pokemon? Sure, I get the addiction in that. We've all gone through the "get 100%/develop your characters/slaves" period. But games where you color your bracelets and tend to virtual pets?
Same bullshit with Forza. Auto-brake feature? Auto-brake? What's next? Auto-steering? Auto-throttle? Auto-play? Oh wait, we have that already, it's called Demonstration videos. Or better yet, tune on the fucking TV and watch a race. BETTER GRAPHICZ0rX.
The funny shit is that someone actually claimed that "auto-brake was fun since all you had to do was hit the gas". This kind of idiocy astounds me. Never ceases to amaze me. Doesn't surprise me, and yet, it's always amazing. Kinda like living next to the Niagara Waterfalls. You know they're there, right next to ya, but it's always amazing everytime you look at them. Kristin Kreuk on my desktop is the same way.
Kojima countdown site reveals 'MASK'
May 29th 2009 3:42PM (Joystiq)Anyhow, a bit of randomness never hurt anyone.
If you write the numbers (three and six) and @ as "at", then, along with the other letters, you may get:
Recreate Sixth Ops
or
Escape Retro Sixth
Amazingly random, yes, ahah. Certainly doesn't mean that. But it's always fun isn't it?
Also..
If you decide to ignore the "@e3" and consider the 0 as a letter O, then you'd get:
Cross Pix
If you ignore every number and "@e3", then you get:
Corps
Obviously, Corpse would be a possibility with the letters alone (ignoring @36, and still considering the letter O instead of number 0).
Randomness over.
Kojima countdown site reveals 'MASK'
May 29th 2009 2:36PM (Joystiq)By the way, the name of the flash file is Ebi. Quite similar to Hebi (japanese for Snake).

That's the full mask. Nothing to do with the Raiden, now does it? ;)
I got that from decompiling the website. Anyhow, that's the way the cookie crumbles.
No more "mask->ninja" comparisons, please. And stop with the Grey Fox theories. Check Grey Fox's face on the internet. There's artwork for him, you know. That's NOT his face.
