Gitaroo Man Lives again, port headed to North America

Oct 2nd 2006 4:56PM (Joystiq)
Regarding the story at hand, I've purchased the imported Gitaroo Man Live! for PSP and it's probab ly my favorite title after Lumines. Was dissappointed to see that it was the same as my Gitaroo Man on PS2 (I was under the impression it was a sequel) I came to he conclusion that it was, in fact, better implemented than the original and actually feels like a more polished and finished title than it's full-sized original.

Blow up U.S. tanker in Iranian game

Oct 1st 2006 4:11PM (Joystiq)
Syrian, (#33) what your "embassador" friend didn't tell you is that the democratically elected leader of Iran is a figurehead designed to pull influence away from the real leaders of the country, the mullahs and oil producing businessleaders. One can certainly go head and criticize the government, but if that same person were to go and demonstrate against the local Islamic leaders who actually control public policy they would be thrown out of the country at best. Don't forget: political appointment and actual control are two very diferent things.

Joystiq Poll: Pick your next-gen movie preference

Sep 20th 2006 4:48AM (Joystiq)
If I had to guess now, Blu-Ray because unlike HD-DVD or upscaled DVD, the original signal is in 1080p already. This makes a huge difference, especially in games. Games where enourmous processing power has to be devoted towards upscaling the video to an acceptable level without sacrificing framerate will have less power to devote to the actual software. Those of you who are computer gamers already know this, higher resolutions tax your computer more and leave less processing power available to handle other activities, especially graphics. Any person who has their high-def TV set to Game mode so they can play DDR and Guitar Hero in synch to the sound have already experienced this--all they've done is disabled the TVs visual upgading routines.

Readers pick best webcomic (August 27 - September 2, 2006)

Sep 6th 2006 12:37AM (Joystiq)
I would be quite happy to vote for more of the independant comics if they were funny. Most of them have no sense of timing, art that detracts from the humor, or just plain bad jokes.

I thought that this weeks should have gone to MacHall, and I voted for it not becaus I am very familiar with the comic (which I am) but because it was easily the most hilarious comic I saw this week. I love VGcats, to, but I didn't see the same level of humor there. Likely, I wouldn't have voted for any Penny Arcade comics from last week either.

People just need to accept that to most people, strips like PA, VGC, LG, CAD and others really are the funniest and most wel done comics of the available choices. Maybe what needs to change is the selection of the independants to comics which are actually as funny and well-done as the "big guys."

Okami: before and after cel-shading

Aug 14th 2006 10:54PM (Joystiq)
I think that the cel-shaded version seems to compliment the art-as-gameplay cencept of the game a lot better than the non-cel version. Though that is quite nice looking, to be absolutely sure. If it is due to hardware limitations, then it's nothing to be ashamed of. As at least one person stated above, limitation has been the driving force of creativity in big-money enterprises like film and games for years now.
