I hate motion controls. When I'm playing video games, it's generally after I've gotten home from work or school, and I don't care to strain myself physically. I just want to space out and mash buttons.
All's I'm saying is I feel for the dude who had this project before. They should've let him see it through instead of giving it to some other company who have only made it even more cheesey and over-the-top.
That's the big difference. Now, Raiden's slingin one-liners and fighting Rex's with swords. The core gameplay looks the same, though. I've already seen him jump around and slash things in different directions.
Actually, mechs are being developed and experimented with all over the world. Will we see any as sophisticated as Rex or Ray in our lifetime? Maybe, maybe not. Regardless, it is something that's, at least, plausible.
One guy stopping something he's probably not even 1/1000 the weight of with his bare hands? That's just moronic.
The Raiden scenes were cheesey as hell. He stopped a giant, like size of the state of Rhode Island, Arsenal Gear by himself. When all of his arms were cut off, he sword fought a bunch of trained soldiers by holding the hilt in his mouth. Really?
That would've been cool when I was 5. Now, I'd like some honest storytelling than doesn't cop out by giving someone infinite strength when it's convenient.
I remember last time they showed Rising, Kojima was big-upping this other dude and telling everyone how he's passing the torch, and this guy has the new MGS on lockdown.
Now, we find out he looked at what they were doing, and he wasn't pleased, and if he wants new leaders he's just going to have to hire them in. Basically taking a dump on this other guy and his team in public.
If I was that guy, I'd be pissed. He, and everyone on his team, probably busted their ass. The original Rising looked shitty, but so does this. Really can't see how this is any different than the original besides the fact that they changed the name to something stupid and nonsensical and added a second ninja.
Also, it's not like Hideo, himself, has been doing that great lately, anyway. The entire Kojima bloodline is going to have to live in shame for the next 100 years because of the tripe he released called MGS4.

Dec 19th 2011 4:40PM (Joystiq)Meh, it's just a gimmick. Don't really care to flail my arms around like a spaz when the payoff is so minimal, thus any strain is too much strain.
Until they can produce full-on VR, buttons can serve the same exact function just fine.
