4GB iriver clix announced for $200

Nov 16th 2006 10:19AM (Engadget)
Jeff - the screen clicks in 4 directions, and the display shows you what each direction will do (context sensitive), it's actually really intuitive.

iriver's 4GB Clix caught slumin' in special black?

Oct 13th 2006 11:07AM (Engadget)
What brilliant news. I was planning on replacing my 2Gb U10 (that broke because I jumped on the screen) at the beginning of November (so that I have something to listen to whilst participating in NaNoWriMo), and if it's in black, that's so much better.

Steampunk laptop comes complete with Morse key

But Pi had no steampunk at all. It was set in the modern day, albeit with a pretty large supercomputer.

The curtain is lifted on the iRiver S10

I thought they couldn't get much smaller than the U10. Though the U10 does have it beaten on battery life (20).

Black DS Lite's flesh compared to PSP, DS Phat

How are people in the UK getting hold of these? They aren't meant to be released until the 23rd! (I want one so badly it hurts. It hurts my SOUL)

Sony expects gamers to "Play Beyond" $599 [update1]

It's a fake. The "$599" is not centered, it's has no perspective, it's not even the same colour.

Is DRM sucking the life out of your MP3 player?

Mar 17th 2006 4:21AM (Engadget)
The point is that DRM will drain battery life (and to a much lesser extent storage space), because you need to decrypt the file to play it. The codec only matters if you want a detailed analysis of it. Most mp3 player CPUs don't have FPU's either, which will just add to the processing time and battery drain.

Muni WiFi/WiMax great for gaming

Mar 2nd 2006 11:14AM (Joystiq)
you seem to have forgotten the huge technical hurdles that we are about to hit - the existing phone networks simply cannot handle this. There will be huge amounts of lag and slowdown for ages until the networks catch up.

(unless google use all that dark fiber it bought up ages ago and goes into telecoms)

Bad Dudes and other bad game titles

F.E.A.R.
"First Encounter Action Response"? What the hell kind of name is that for an elite paramilitary group, let alone a game?
