May 28th 2011 8:06PM (Joystiq)More or less. What can I say, you can't go against your programming.

May 22nd 2011 12:15AM (Joystiq)But seriously, can we please cut No Cash Value? It's NEVER been funny. Switch it out with Fanboys (which seems to finally be back). This could easily take the place of the weeks No Cash Value: http://fanboys-online.com/index.php?comic=351

May 20th 2011 2:56PM (Joystiq)Rage preview: Doomed down
Apr 20th 2011 10:23PM (Joystiq)I pre-ordered this back after E3 like...2 years ago? and recently canceled it. Now I'm actually doubting I'm going to purchase it. Too bad really, had this game been a late 2009, early-mid 2010 release it would be an instant buy, but it's window feels like it's closed. Such a shame.
Portal 2 has in-game DLC store, like Team Fortress 2's

Feb 21st 2011 8:26PM (Joystiq)It really depends on how you go about it though. The slow building tension in Dead Space 1 worked great because we had no idea what was happening, it was a new experience and thus it frightened us. We never knew what to expect. In Dead Space 2 however you can't follow the same model. Because we the gamer know what the expect from experiences in the first game, to follow another slow building tension formula would end up playing a bit boring.
I believe that big, frantic beginning did a great job of bringing back the thrill and horror. We know what we are dealing with, however to be caught off guard like that when you are defenseless, and witnessing the start of the outbreak, not the aftermath, there is a new level of fear that plays out.
In the first game we feared the shadows while trying to accomplish our mission, in this game it's about being on the run and just trying to get out. Without this difference in horror styles between both games, I think that DS2 would have felt too much like a soulless rehash instead of a frantic, thrilling adventure into the heart of darkness.
Harmonix retains IP rights to Rock Band, Dance Central
Dec 24th 2010 1:51PM (Joystiq)Are you talking about Activision and Viacom? Because if so you really don't seem to understand what happened with either partnership.
For Activision: After GH2, Harmonix came to Activision with an idea for a Band style music game (Rock Band) instead of simply guitars. Activision didn't believe it would sell and wouldn't support it. Harmonix was still under a 3 game contract with 1 to go so they quickly made GH:Rock the 80's and then split to Viacom who would actually support them (at the time) to innovate the music games genre and make Rock Band while Activision stayed with just Guitar Hero (which 1 iteration later would start to mimic Rock Band).
For Viacom...um...Viacom was withholding money they owed Harmonix as well as were trying to sell Harmonix...so I don't quite see where Harmonix has done anything wrong here either. They were going to be gone from Viacom one way or the other since Viacom didn't want them anymore.
Rock Band Weekly: Paul McCartney, Inhabited, Siouxsie and The Banshees
Dec 23rd 2010 2:26PM (Joystiq)Actually, (for the Rock Band Franchise anyways) it will be the 5th Siouxie song released. I think in '08 we got a 3 pack with "Hong Kong Garden", "The Killing Jar", and "Kiss Them for Me", then later this year we also got "Peek-a-Boo".
