The lady in this video is EXTREMELY inaccurate when comparing ALPHA and BETA. I've been using Alpha for a few months, and it looks almost exactly the same. The screen that she says is what Alpha looks like, is just a special Jolicloud App called "Getting Started" where you manage your apps on your netbook. For example, when she says "It's missing Twitter" she could easy enable it by going into that "Getting Started" app and performing a one-click install.
The normal interface of Alpha looks 99% the same as the interface of BETA from what I can tell.
I've been using Jolicloud Alpha on an Acer Aspire One for a few months now. Win XP came preinstalled on my netbook, then I tried Jolicloud, then Moblin, then Win 7 RC, and now I'm back to Jolicloud. It is a bit glitchy at times, but Jolicloud seems to be my favorite netbook OS.
The two main features that were missed in the comparison against the ContourHD, the GoPro is waterproof, where the Contour is only splash proof. Also, they do NOT have the same recording modes. 90% of the consumers using this video will be for fast-paced action shots. 60fps is the key stat. GoPro does 60fps in 720p HD, and ContourHD only does 60fps in 480p SD. Big difference. I shoot wakeboarding videos, so those two stats are the reason why I'll be choosing GoPro.
Honestly, there are tons of devices that do 1080p @ 30fps (including point-and-shoot cameras, and consumer camcorders). That really isn't that big of a deal, in my opinion. Try to find a device that shoots 720p @ 60fps under $1500. It's hard to do.
Nope, it IS Harmonix's fault. They could have opted not to make the game unless they had proper licensing (nobody held a gun to their head). Now whether or not they should make the game is a different story. Maybe they should...BUT, if we are going to give them praise for getting The Beatles on board, then they also do deserve all of the negatives that go along with it like backstabbing the customers that helped make Rock Band a cash cow by not supporting them. Seems fair to me.
