Steve Ballmer and Ray Ozzie live from D8

Jun 3rd 2010 12:11PM (Engadget)
GOD - Walt is too much of an Apple fan to give this interview. I love Apple, but I'm not reading this to find out what Balmer has to say about Macs, iPads and Apple's latest quarter. Who CARES?!!!?!!?

I want to hear about how MS will respond with Windows Mobile 7, how they will catch up, and where they think tech is headed. Also how about some XBOX talk, that is the current living room leader.

HTC 'continues to assess' developing its own smartphone OS, Palm says 'hey, assess this'

Apr 13th 2010 2:03PM (Engadget)
I feel like I'm watching some cheesy romantic comedy where the audience just wants the two main characters to cut through the BS and just get hitched already.

Come on HTC, you know you want it.

Who should buy Palm?

@fourthletter
You're right, but HTC has never had their own OS to push before. They may still develop Windows and Android phones, but I would think it would be on a lesser scale in order to promote their own mobile OS

Who should buy Palm?

Apr 12th 2010 10:51AM (Engadget)
If HTC buys Palm that may cause a pretty significant shake up in the Mobile OS space. They will be devoted much less time producing Android handsets and replace them with WebOS handsets.

In turn it would be a huge loss for Google as HTC produces the majority of Android Handsets.

It is possible for this to turn into a Google vs. Apple battle as they would be strategic acquisitions. Sadly the future of WebOS would likely be doomed as a result of either of these companies cashing in. Apple would surely kill it immediately, and Google would be 50/50 kill it or integrate key features into Android...

very interesting to see how this plays out

I am shocked by how pissed off people are about this

This will have ZERO effect on the app store because companies will continue to publish apps on the app store because of the ginormous market. Oh and there is that iAd thing they just came up with...thats not going to be able to make anyone money...

Spend less time bitching and go learn C/C++/Obj-C. Its not that hard. And if you are worried about portability...oh good you already wrote it in C. No go eat your donut.

Apple may be able to eliminate the need for DVR's with that, but they won't compete with the cable companies yet...they need to offer high def live sports coverage....I'm looking at you MLB.tv, and NFL network pony up already.
